It was a horrible cut and the fight was rightly stopped. It was a good fight and it was a shame it ended that way.Im a fan of Lennox but dont agree when people say he was about to turn the fight round,he had landed his best shots on Vittali and he was still there and throwing back with big shots at the point it was stopped.I belive Lennox was on his way to a defeat either by points or late stoppage. But the cut was too bad to allow any more fighting and people who say Vittali would never have fought again had it gone on are right, his career was saved that night.
Lennox Lewis was out of shape, his timing was off.. He just relied on his brute strength in this fight, Lennox Lewis showed how physically strong he was in this fight.
Look, watch your language. I would be embarrassed to have a fighter who retired the way Lennox did. Vitali with a bloody face got in his face after the fight, and got in his face on the television screen after Vitali wooped Johnson, and then Lennox walked away still, all that money on the table too, and everyone's in the world is watching( despite his own trainer Steward pleading with him to not retire and take the fight) Steward has even said he was disappointed. I'd be embarrassed to have to defend someone like that, like you do. That Tyson fight was a joke. McBride did it too, didn't he.
for f*cks sake anyone who knows the smallest thing about boxing knows that Lewis wasnt ready becuase he was originally supposed to be fighting Kirk Johnson and since he was late in his career he'd lost his focus just a little and hadnt trained as much as he should have or might have had he been preparing for VK it nearly cost him but he still gave VK an awful time, and fully prepared he'd probably have battered him.
Both were very tired.....If you look at the fight, Vitali wasn't even aware that his corner were putting butterfly stiches on his cuts. and spent his last round hanging on the Lewis while he must of known he had limited time in there because of the cuts
I'm not a chump. You may have written 11,000 empty posts, but I have watched to much boxing, in fact I used to listen to Marciano on the radio. I just see it like I see it. I am glad I don't have to defend a fighter like you do. Enough said.
What money on the table ???? Lewis made around $30/40 million dollars for the Tyson fight..... why should he fight any further when he doesn't want to and doesnt need the money. and that fight was what ppl wanted to see ... thats why it happened Challengers do not get rematches unless the champions wants it
Well you obviously do have to defend the fighter, vitali quite against chris byrd when he was miles ahead what a joke.:-(
But if it was such a small risk as many people on this sight argue why turn it down?? anyone interested in investment or making profit would not turn down EASY money!! Lewis knew it was a huge risk othewise it would have happened!!
obviosuly it was a risk he might not have beaten him but you are talking about a prime vitali against a 37 year old lewis who was rich and had wanted to retire before the tyson fight.
ZZZZZZZZZZ atsch again poor arguement!! Vitaly had a bad injury (well documented) he would have absolutely destroyed Byrd under any other circumstances fact!! And i'm not a huge fan defending vK its just a fact
Its also funny that vitali has fought in the pro ranks for 13 years but has only fought about 5 decent fighters.
