Darn good fight for as long as it lasted. I would watch a rematch. Lopez would need to find and answer to Solido's right hand or it would be a replay of the first fight I am afraid.
I agree about the rematch. I saw the same Lopes as always. The Lopes that is expected to get hurt and comeback to win by ko. Difference being that this time he didn't have an answer for the durable chin, decent defense, and awesome over hand right.
Lopez throws a straight left hand, Salido dodges. Rather than cover up or move his head JuanMa waits for Salido to bring his head up so that he can land a right hook. Unfortunately for JuanMa, Salido rocks him with a monster right hand over the left. What a beauty of a fight.
If Lopez were to win a rematch then I'd be more excited about a Gamboa fight. I think this might be good for him, he can't go on ignoring his defensive flaws and relying on his power. I'm not sad Gamboa-Lopez didn't happen so far because if Lopez wasn't good enough to beat Salido, then he's not as elite as he would be marketed to be in such a fight. If he can come back to beat this guy with an improved skill-set or ring iq, then he's earning his legitimacy as a participant in a super-fight. I'd love to the rematch, which according to Arum is happening without question.
Yea I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little bummed JuanMa lost, I was really looking forward to the excitement of the event of two undefeateds in juanma vs gamboa, and all the atmosphere that would've came with it. But make no mistake, I am happy for the underdog, who would've probably got robbed on the cards if it went the distance. Salido's fists were the only judges needed in this fight.
I simply don't understand why he does not have defense for that right hand. The punches were looping shots coming from outside. It is not even straight punches and Salido at times was just reaching, without even looking. He looked amateurish not able to solve that right hand. A simple gloves protecting the left chin would have negated more than half what Salido connected.
Those were purposely looped shots though. They were even set up by salido getting low as if to evade a punch and unloading from an angle that Juan ma couldn't see. I personally love that punch when executed with purpose and precision.
Watching the fight again now, Salido did some very good bodywork, on top of those right hands. Junama gets stopped in the rematch.
If they can actually learn from their mistakes, it should be easy to make a lot of simple corrections. Pull back his hands when he punches.
Does not matter whether it was intended or not. It is so amateurish in delivery and he should not get caught repeatedly with the same punch. JML simply does not put his hands up. He is not exceptionally fast in terms of reflexes to get away with that kind of fighting.
