I just watched The Moment for the second time, and to be honest, it was a win for Mayweather. I had it 115-113, Mayweather by UD Rematch in September will be more like 117-11 for Mayweather IMO
Anyone who gave Maidana 5 rounds had to have scored Paul Williams vs. Erislandy Lara to Paul Williams on activity. The compubox's and general themes of the styles playing out mirror each other.
Maidana won rounds 1, 5, and 8. That is all. Missing blows cannot trump connected shots in scoring. Mayweather connected both more and especially with far better blows in each and every round other than those three. Scoring criteria of "defense" and "ring generalship" cannot be ignored, as they almost always are. The scoring criteria for a professional boxing match is often either not known or ignored in terms of what the individual viewer personally wants to see happen.
This is just like Jon Jones fighting Gustafsson. Bones usually dominates and wins clearly without much competition. Same with Floyd. Gustafsson gave Jones more of a fight than we were used to seeing so of course people were saying Jones lost. This is the same situation to me. Maidana won 3, 4 rounds max. If they fight again Floyd wins 12-0 or 11-1. What else can Maidana do except fight more dirty or miss more punches, at least Floyd can fight differently.
I also said that throwing is not enough, you have to land. Pac can throw 2000 but he lands also a lot, but Maidana throws and lands almost nothing.
This seems to imply you give the round to the man who landed more in the round? I could be wrong, but going by that rationale, Maidana definitely should have won more than 3 rounds. I gave him 4 of the first 6, but it's always a different experience watching live for me. I thought Floyd won it live by about 2 rounds at most. Will rematch it later and see how I have it.
