...for the first time and came to this conclusion: There is no way, I repeat NO WAY Margarito beats Cotto. Clottey was dominating Margarito with is high guard, blocking all Margarito's shots and even tought he was much more active, no clean shots landed and Clottey was countering him with those nasty left hooks and straight rights who were landing clean. When he hurt his left hand, it was a disaster for Clottey as this was his money punch and that he was landing it at will. I doubt Margarito wouldve won this fight if Clottey used his left hand with the same regualrity than in rounds 1 to 4. Now Cotto has a incredible left hook, powerful, quick and if he can land it has Clottey did i doubt Margarito will see the final bell as even tought he has an iron chin theres only so much you can take. Cotto has a good chin at 147 and is smaller than Margarito and will be able to land that same left hook while on the inside and with his typical high guard he will dominate Margarito and since he can box and fight on the outiside (which Clottey could'nt do) i don't see how Margarito wins this fight. The only thing I see giving trouble to Cotto is AM's uppercut in both hands who are very powerful but if Miguel Cotto can neutralize those two punches he will beat Antonio Margarito without much trouble.
I think Cotto will win, but he can't do so by trying to copy Clottey. He doesn't have Clottey's chin or defense. If he stands in front of Margo as much as Clottey did, he's going to get beat down. Cotto doesn't need to move the whole fight, but he would be wise not to stand in front of Margo for too long.
that's like watching torres vs cotto and sayin no way will cotto beat margo........ i'm a die hard of both, but to go based on other fights is BS in this fight, only cause they both have what it takes to beat each other....
Torres doesn't fight much like Margarito and is a one-punch Kayo artist while Margarito's knockout comes on accumulation. Also the Torres fight was at 140 and Cotto is much better at 147 so comparing Torres-Cotto aint the same as comparing Margarito-Clottey which i feel is a good comparison as i feel Cotto can do what Clottey did and do i better.
Cotto doesnt fight like Clottey either. obviously Cotto is the favorite here but to pretend AM has no chance like the clown who started this thread is either hating or nutridin.
You have to remember that Clottey is a big WW so he can stay close to Margarito to a certain degree, Cotto knows he does'nt have that privalige and he does'nt have the upper body of Clottey to fend off Margarito's upper cuts, but all in all I think Cotto will win by UD but i can easily see Marg winning also.
As i said in my first post, Cotto will need to neutralize Margarito's uppercuts. He can do that but it will be harder for Margarito to neutralize the left hook since he needs to open up on Cotto to win the fight.
There is a clear difference in boxing skill between Marg and Cotto. Cotto is not one dimensional like Marg. Cotto's jab was landing against Judah and Mosley. You don't think this will work against the stationary Marg? History has shown that anytime Marg faces something more than a one dimensional fighter who can box, he loses. He's lucky Clottey hurt his left hand. I see Cotto ripping Marg apart because of the difference in skill.
an ex GF actually told me about it before I saw the replay. . . she said it was like cauliflower ear. When I saw it, I was like DAMN, that shiit is ten time worse!
yeah, I think they did him a favor by keeping him away from any mirrors for a while. :yep dude didnt want the fight stopped, he is a togh SOB.
Can't say that I agree with that. For the first 5 rounds, Margarito-Lujan was a close fight. Margarito was boxing (actually trying to stick and move), but wasn't really effective. Most of the telling blows were landed by Lujan. Matter of fact, Brian Kenny gave Lujan 4 of the first 5 rounds. Margarito wasn't effective until he turned up the pressure and started brawling rather than trying to box.
I HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT , I'M AFRAID MARG IS GOING TO BE A HECK OF AN OPPONENT THOUGH, WE'LL SEE! BTW, NEVER SEEN THE CLOT./MARGARITO FIGHT, IF ANYBODY HAS A LINK TO IT , IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
