Just Watched Matthysse Vs. Ajose fight on Showtime Extreme!!!

I think Matthysse is being underrated in his performance against southpaws. Matthysse chooses to box southpaws, and apply slow, intelligent pressure, while keeping range.

That's why it took him 10 rounds to KO Ajose, when Lundy, who just applies pressure and takes a beating in response, was able to KO him sooner.

Lundy will probably have a short career, even though he may have beat him more emphatically.

Southpaws are difficult to fight because if you box with them, even if you are landing the harder shots, like Matthysse did with Alexander, you still may not get the decision.

It just depends on who the networks want to win.

Everybody knows Matthysse beat Alexander, but on paper he lost. I don't think it's relevant in this fight anyway.

Garcia doesn't present the same angles that southpaws do, making it more difficult and risky, closing distance, because of the distance between both fighter's power hands, giving them more time to throw a big punch than if they were of the same stance.

It will be a good fight. I'm not sure why people hate Matthysse so much. Instead of ducking the best competition, he's fighting everyone. He called out Garcia right away.

in my book the only credible fighter Danny has on his list is Amir Khan... Holt is not world level..... Morales? Are you kidding me? He was shot and the first fight went the distance. Then there's Zab Judah who has become a stepping stone.... Amir Khan was a big upset... he was schooling Garcia for 2 anda half rounds as per the plan but then his dumbness kicked in (thanks to Angel Garcia for stirring him up) and Garcia KO'd him.

If Garcia beats Lucas fair and square I think he will get the respect he deserves and I think we can say he is the real deal because no one is left at 140.

 

Get your facts right Lundy got a decision win over Ajose he did not stop him. Matthyse had a good tough fight against Ajose. They both got to each other with plenty of shots. Matthyse a real gentleman outside the ring admitted afterwards that he felt Ajose's power. Everybody there was proud of both men. My high admiration for Matthyse went up after this fight. Matthyse has beaten and fought a lot of quality southpaws.

Amir Khan is a good win to have on your resume... at that time Khan was to fight Mayweather next.... that is a credible win... no need to hate on Garcia.

garcia lost maybe 3-4 rounds. that low blow point deduction was bull****. hardly outboxed. theophane with his big wide predictable amateurish punches was getting countered all night.

 

I didn't see the Judah fight, but no way Matthysse lost to Alexander.
