For Herrera to take such brutal punishment for 12 rounds straight absorbing Ruslan's power punches round after round and continuing to fight on with heart and determination against all odds. I think Herrera deserved to win this fight just based on the heart and will he displayed even though he didn't do much damage on Provodnikov, he just refused to surrender and be broken down and he continued to fight with everything he had. Herrera is a ****ing WARRIOR! I don't know if he will ever become champion or if he will be forgotten in history as just another boxer but out of hundreds of boxing matches I've watched, I've never seen a fighter take this type of punishment and continue to fight with HEART! Goddamn this guy is a tough son of a *****.

    Agreed.

If Herrera had some real pop to his punches he may even be a World champion or Top 10 fighter, unfortunately that's his one major downfall.

Yeah, Herrera is a seriously tough dude, as evidenced by his loss to Alvarado.

Although he's not an elite talent, with his style he can make a very nice living fighting guys like Breidis Prescott, Fedchenko, Soto, Corley etc.

    Tough guy for sure.

Sidenote, Imo Ruslan should have won that fight. I was actually surprised when they announced herrera.

    Herrera is the man.

His clinic against hard hitting, yet completely one dimensional Ji-Hoon Kim was awesome. He beat the dog **** out of him.

Definitely agreed! Herrera won a couple of FNF bouts I don't think he deserved, that being the more memorable one.

It was a good learning lesson for him, it taught him to be more aggressive and go for the kill instead of throwing one or two power punches here and there.

I actually thought the Provodnikov decision was OK (wouldn't have bitched about it either way). Provo allowed himself to be out-hustled for long stretches, and lost some rounds as a result. Herrera's best win by far.

Yes, I was in the house when he fought Mike Alvarado and I can say that Herrera won over much of those people I was sitting next to. Being from Denver myself I was worried for Alvarado at times as well.

I didn't say he was championship caliber, I said he's an EXCEPTIONALLY tough mother****er, one of the toughest to ever stop foot in a boxing ring.
