Just watched Mayweather vs Emmanuel Burton. I don't think he could have beaten Loma at 130

If he makes pbf quit then what does he do to pac at 130? Who lost to a faded em there.:deal:

Me neither, but I just don't agree with this Mayweather is unbeatable at 130 thing. When Loma should without a doubt be favorite against him at 130.

You think so? The guy is an awkward come forward guy that just doesn't want to go down. And Loma isn't a hard puncher. So I could see your logic here.

Yeah he was still smart at 130, but he wasn't as brilliant and well rounded as he'd grow in to being. I rate Floyd quite highly at the weight. I just don't think he'd have been ready yet to win the chess match with Loma, and itd take more than a reach advantage to overcome that.

Floyd and Loma are alike in that you really aren't going to beat them the same way twice. They learn and apply too well. That's why I go with the experience here as Loma's got more in his arsenal Floyd hadn't seen at that point, especially coming from a southpaw stance

It's not that he's unbeatable at 130. It's that he's got the best record at 130 of anyone ever. It's not that deep a division. Guys like Henry Armstrong and Pacquiao pretty much moved through it on the way to bigger better things.

Styles makes fights. Pac always had trouble with orthodox boxer punchers who have big right hands. Against a come forward southpaw like Loma? He never had issues with that style.

but most people only judge him off specific fights. if you take this fight, the castillo fight, the oscar fight, and the maidana fight, floyd dont look all that dominant at all. at least not top 50 atg level. people pick and choose what they want, in order to get the results they want. for every so so performance, his huggers have lists of excuses, for every great performance, his haters have lists of excuses. how many posters do you see who actually take all the facts and come up with a sensible result?

Welcome to the curse of the junior/super divisions.

Most of the time they're just pit stops or starting points on the way to one of the original 8 classes.

I respectfully disagree. I cant envision a way for loma to win. You're not beating pbf if he holds such a significant reach advantage against you. Loma is a outboxer you're not going to outbox a superior boxer. Pbf is a horrible styles match up for loma a bigger longer guy faster with better defense and counter punching with pop stamina and a chin. I see pbf finding a home for that straight right hand cut and bust lomas face up because he cuts and busts up easily. He will fight tall when needed and bully and outwork loma on the inside. I dont think pbf blows him out but i think he would stop loma late in a great fight.

I just think you're under selling pbfs ring iq at 130 he fought like a fighter wise beyond his age there. He made genaro hernandez who's a quality operator look helpless. There's a reason why he's considered the GOAT at 130.

He rematched both Castillo and Maidana and did better. If he took a loss in Castillo one I cant see him being rated too much different.

The difference is he still won those fights so that has to account for something right???.:deal: the guy had like 4 close fights in his career. A guy like pac for example should get criticized for getting stopped by jmm or never beating him clearly. I said it for years that if pac couldn't beat jmm clearly then he had no chance against pbf. Before the fight people were quick to throw out triangle theories dont work in boxing but in this case i was proven to be correct.

I saw an inferior talent in Judah take rounds and knock down a better version of Floyd, so it's not terribly hard for me to envision a smarter, slicker southpaw who gets stronger down the stretch instead of fading pulling off the W.

But I respect the stance you're taking. I wasn't just patronizing when I said Floyd's a hell of a fighter at the there. :beer-toast1:

Lord have mercy. Mayweather beat Burton with one hand. He fractured his right hand i believe. Haven't watched this fight in a while, but u making ur case that Loma beats him off of this? smh Mayweather beats Loma from 130-147.

Oscar took the same Hernandez and ripped in him in 2. Immediately started hurting him. Obviously that is mostly because Oscar hits a lot harder than Floyd. But Hernandez was a very good fighter, but nothing special.

Yes Mayweather is bigger and stronger than Loma even at 130. But he's not more skilled.
