I just finished watching the great Jimmy McLarnin fight Tony Canzoneri. I absolutely guarantee you, after seeing them in action, that JMM would be bouncing 14 punch combinations off the head of either one of those guys in a brutal, ugly mismatch. Old timers are so overrated it makes me nauseous.
Stick to the easy to digest modern stuff bernie...You're not ready for the oldtimers. You probably never will be.
I know what I saw, and if you can watch that fight and think that those guys could hang with a modern championship caliber lightweight you're smoking crack. There's nothing to debate here. It's just a fact.
Flat footed, sweeping left (and right!) hooks with absolutely no thought of defense, hands held at the waist at all times, a couple times standing totally in profile to each other, chin high, hands down... seriously, it was laughable. I know people are in love the old names, and like to sound more knowledgeable than thou by referencing them, but this isn't a judgement call. It was like a toughman contest.
If its a FACT because you say so then ill pass. Ill accept it as fact when someone who knows what they are talking about it says so. It's your opinion and your opinion holds no more weight then anyone else's. In fact generally less because you try to get away with making sweeping, matter of fact statements on things you only have a rudimentary knowledge on...but generally you always get caught out. Pick Marquez if you want...thats fine, I probably would to. But claiming he would have easily brushed aside two of the greatest and most proven fighters in the history of the sport quite simply just makes your look like an idiot...Im sure you are used to that by now though bernie.
