    Oh come on.

The guy got his mandatory, and fair play to him, but lets not pretend he'll last any more than 4 rounds

Nobody has said he's a live dog really. Just that he is a legit contender and has earned his shot through getting & staying ranked.

    No.

People just want to dump on Kovalev for taking his mandatory, like champions are supposed to do. (and honestly, after shutting out Hopkins and stopping Pascal, how much grief can you really give Kovalev for a relative 'soft touch' back on the Caparello/Agnew level of ranked but outmatched fighters?)

Probably just fans of Stevenson knocking down these imaginary straw-man claims that Mohammedi is a threat, attempting misdirection to disguise the fact that Stevenson is the one that's scared.

Actually I called him a live dog. But meaning that he's not a bum or resume padder like people are saying, and I expect him to give a good showing of himself and will cause Kovalev problems. The guy's got good defense, footwork and ring IQ, is an aggressive but smart be first kind of fighter with a good jab, and throws combinations fighting going forward or backward. He's also about the same size as Kovalev, comes to a fight in shape, and he's got a good coach in Abel Sanchez.

Kovalev has power and good speed, but his defense has flaws (awkward footwork and moves back in straight lines), isn't really that creative, and relies too much on his right hand. He's vulnerable to a guy with good defense, footwork, ring IQ and throws combinations, which is what Mohammedi is.

Do I expect Mohammedi to be standing over Kovalev's body at the end of the fight yelling, "I shocked the world!"? No. But will he be a live dog? Yes, I think so.
