I Was a little surprised once I tallied up the points. The commentators were a little far fetched IMO in favor of Cotto. R 1 - Cotto R 2 - Even R 3 - Mosley R 4 - Cotto R 5 - Mosley (good body punches throughout) R 6 - Cotto R 7 - Mosley (commentators are so Pro Cotto) R 8 - Cotto R 9 - Mosley R 10 - Mosley Round 11 - Cotto Round 12 - Mosley I had Mosley by one point! Cotto gave away the 12th by running and I had the 2nd even since it was extremely close but could've gone either way. That was not a clear fight. The commentators were horrible. It's like they were giving more credit to Cotto for taking a punch than Mosley actually landing it.
I don't have a RBR. I know I had it 115-113 Cotto. Maybe one of these days I'll rewatch it in full and score it again.
Yea, I'm not surprised anyone had it 2 points for Cotto since a couple of those rounds could've went to him. I am a little surprised all the judges had it for Cotto though
IMO that wasn't clear. It was a very close fight. I'm not sure why Cotto got on his bicycle like that in the last few rounds. He's a warrior type and that's not his style to try to ride out a victory if he thought he was a couple rounds ahead.
It was clear, the most you could give mosley was the draw. Cotto always gets on his bike on the last rounds, his conditioning isn't up there. But when he when he's on his bike he is effective
I always say this as a Mosley fan more then a Cotto fan: How can anyone score this fight for Sugar Shane. It was a close but clear win for Miguel Cotto.
I think people tried to put him in the Gatti "warrior" category because he fights on under adversity but he's not like him really. He has never had a problem doing what it takes to win, even if he decides the best way is to go on the back foot. When you're against a guy you can duke it out with and win, pressure fighting is great but I think Cotto knew he wasn't going to win that type of fight against Mosely. Mosely is just too powerful, gets off too quickly and has too good a beard. So, Cotto didn't bother with a pressure game like he's looked maybe the most impressive at doing with lesser fighters.
I don't know man. I respect your opinion but if that's clear, I have poor vision. I realize not many hold compubox at much value but they landed the exact same amount of punches and in no round did I see one guy land a lot more than the other. It was literally punch for punch and clean shot for clean shot. I thought Mosley got to the body better and Cotto probably landed literally only a handful more clean shots upstairs but that was ultra close IMO
Lol don't go by compubox, like I said before it's not amateurs. This is a fight, you need to look for crisp clean punches, and who seems to be inflicting more damage
I did this about a year ago. About 80% of the voters felt that Cotto won this fight, either clear or close. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164718&highlight=Cotto+Mosley
I'm a Mosley fan and I had it something like 8 rounds to 4 for Cotto. Cotto was just outlanding Mosley pretty bad up until the last 2-3 rounds when Cotto got that cut, but Cotto never really seemed in trouble. Mosley was getting to him at the end, but I think it had to do more with the cut. Miguel was just using angles, short punches in bunches, and not staying in front on Mosley. Best performance from Cotto. It was competitive, but if it wasn't for Mosley's late surge and that cut Miguel got late, it would of been one of Mosley's clear losses other than the fight with Floyd where Mosley fought like a 40 year old and looked like a mummy.
