Lemme guess - Naseem in his so called "prime", per some of the people in this thread, can take out Pacquiao, Barrera, Morales, and Marquez all out H2H. Heck, he can take them all out within a year if he crossed paths with them, one by one. :!:
That barerra beats naz everytime. I love naz but he always had flaws in his game which s top level fighter could expose. Even after junior Jones I thought barerra would beat hamed.
same here, it would have been a very good fight prime vs prime, Naz in the end just became a Slugger in the end although if you look at his earlier fights he had great boxing skills and good jab.
naz never did much roadwork anyway, its possable he did none at all for barrera. he used to say, running is for runners.
i think nas was in shape, barrera was just always 2 moves in front of him. barrera outboxed him. also naz having manny steward and oscar suarez both in his corner, taking it in turns between rounds, well, that's not the way to do things.
Hamed looked like **** in that fight and it wasn't just Barrera. The truth encompasses every theory. Doesn't matter if Hamed could have shown up on the most important night of his life in better form. He didn't.
The deluded and up-his-own-ass Hamed that fought Barrera, was miles away from the passionate and hungry Hamed that fought Robinson. But full credit to Barrera, though. He knew Hamed had become accustomed to moving around less, goading his opponents to brawl, neglecting the combinations, and relying too much on his one-punch power. Barrera just refused to engage in that, and boxed smart. I dread to think what JMM and Pacquiao would have done if they got hold of him at that stage.
I just watched it as well. Great documentary but seemed almost like Naz was purposely made to look like an ******* from start to finish.
Dont think he ever believed in doing road work. He just thought you needed to by the boxing gym, hitting bags, and in the ring sparring. Theres a actually a lot to be said for that. Best way to get fit for boxing is by boxing.
I watched the documentary last night, and wow, it was enlightening to say the least. I always had this vision of Nas partying all night and not doing any training at all a la Tyson (that vision was busted to some degree), but he obviously thought he was training hard enough for MAB, in between mugging to the cameras and demanding swimming pools, getting his hair cut, etc. Even if I'd not known the result of the fight, I still would have had an ominous feeling when Nabeel pointed out that MAB was up in the mountains in the cold, while Nas was training where it was nice, warm and comfortable. Dude has never seen Rocky IV, obviously.
Barrera, unlike Robinson, was not only an elite, but was an extraordinarily intelligent fighter(no offense to Robby, but this is the irrefutable truth).Barrera simply exposed hamed's many obvious flaws which, quite honestly,Robby was unable to do so.When hamed fought MAB,he knew that, for the 1st time in his career,he was in the ring with an elite with whom he couldn't utilize his usual bull**** "psych the other guy out and drag him into my kind of fight"situation. It's seriously hilarious how hamed's fans make the comparison between hamed's performances against Robinson and MAB because they honestly believe that hamed's signature off-balance bull**** would have worked against a seriously smart fighter like MAB.Cheers, mateys
