Now hear me out; Yes, Cotto was being punished throughout the fight and was getting torn up, but his legs were still there in retreat and wasn't wobbly. The man wanted to finish the fight and was only a couple minutes but Bayless robbed him of that. I don't agree with that.

It was the volume of punches he took throughout the fight to tell Bayless to stop it, I dont think he cares if he finished or not. At the end of the day Bayless was just doing his job looking out for the safety of the fighters.

You have a point. If Bayless let it go on that long he should have let Cotto finish the 12. Having said that, I also believe that Bayless should have stop it much earlier.

...so you want Cotto to be damaged permanently? Pacquiao is kicking his ass and he can no longer defend himself that is why Bayless stopped the fight..

a little late on the reaction?

he did the right thing. you don't know if that 1 extra punch or round could save a life. Ask Frazier.

I would've preferred for Cotto's corner to have stopped it after the 9th.

That's BS. Taking another 2 and a half minutes of Pacman punishment could have affected him permanently. I heard an interview with Bayless about the fight and he said he was thinking of stopping it after the 9th, and said he was worried for Cotto as according to his words "Pacquiao was just relentless".

There needs to be some care for a fighter in this situation. Cotto's corner should have insisted to stop the fight after the 9th. In fact I am surprised the ringside doctor allowed it to continue.

it was BS...it should have been stopped two rds earlier...I hate when refs let a beaten and destroyed fighter get into the 11th or 12th rd then stop it....stop it wwhen it is obvious the guy is done....don't be like buddy mcgirt and decide to be a hero late in the 11th rd and stop a fight....let them finish at that point...or stop it when u see they have no chance

I could have been stopped a few rounds before that. While most would agree that Cotto is a tough SOB, he really didn't need to take any more punishment and there was NO chance he would win. His corner should have stopped it in the 9th or 10th. The guy will have a life after boxing. He doesn't need to absorb another 100 shots, at less then 100 percent, in a fight he wasn't gonna win. Have pride, he went out on his feet and he didn't quit.

The stoppage was odd. If Bayless wanetd to stop the fight there were much clearer points earlier in the fight where he could've done it. If he was going to allow Cotto to go that long he mind as well have let him finish the fight.

As i saw it, pac was going for the kill and on the scenario that bayless stopped it, pac tagged cotto with solid punches on assault. Stoppage maybe a little bad for cotto resume (as it was a TKO assuming he'll last the final bell) while it might be good for his health.

Yes, if Bayless let it go on that long you can let Cotto finish. I see what some of you are saying though and who knows the extra damage Cotto could've taken. But he was on his feet and moving just fine and did not look disoriented.

Note: Just saw the 12th round for the first time tonight

Ref wanted to stop it earlier, along with Cottos father. Team Cotto wanted to continue, Ref obliged and gave Cotto another round. Doctor and ref agreed that if Cotto gets hit by another power punch and gets in trouble, they'd stop it.
