There is no doubt in my mind povetkin is #2 only to wladmir and maybe with a better trainer and game plan could beat wlad. Nobody comes close.

Without a doubt. Povetkin is a great heavyweight, would be a top contender in any era, and would have had a dominant reign in this one if the Klitschkos weren't around.

Povetkin has done more than enough to earn another shot at a world title I agree, honestly has done more than Wilder has in recent fights... Very impressive performances against Charr, and Takam the latter of which would probably beat Stiverne if they were to fight. Wilder in his last two beat Stiverne, and Jason Gavern.. Not all that impressive. If he wants to prove to the world that he's for real then he should face Povetkin next, and not some cabdriver...

He should have won the first fight, Wlad should have been DQ'd by the 4th round.

Wlad may have clinched excessively, but he also beat the **** out of Povetkin.. Clinching didn't make a difference, Povetkin was floored several times(including early in the fight) Some of the clinching was instigated by Povetkin, and even when Wlad did clinch, how could you blame him in every instance? When Povetkin bull rushes in with his head down like that???? That fight for me wasn't as bad as the Ibragimov one, at least there was SOME action. Not a great fight by any means, but it wasn't entirely Wlads fault like some people like to claim... A rematch should happen, After Povetkin beats Perez and Wilder.

He has been underrated his whole career both in terms of resume and skills.

Povetkin is still the clear cut #2 at HW with a large gap ahead of everyone (and an even larger gap from #1, still...).

Byrd was shot to absolute shyt. He almost got banged out in the first round in his very next fight against a light heavy weight.

He was even shot 3 years earlier when he couldn't beat a washed up and old Golota.

Poevetkin took 11 rounds before Byrd threw in the towel.

Compare Povetkins performance to Ibeabuchi who blasted out Byrd at his best in just 5 rounds. That proves beyond doubt former fighters from better era's were superior in every way.

Povetkin is one of the top guys of this era but its not because he beat Byrd you Twonk.

That was a long time ago, you know...and in his next fight Povetkin lost the first half to Fast Eddie Chambers before Eddie pulled a DLH-PBF and mysteriously sheathed his jab.

...and since then, a lot more recently, looked even worse against Huck than in the 1st half of the Chambers fight.

Not that I disagree. Povetkin is clearly the h2h #2 hw IMO - but citing the performance against past-prime Byrd 7 years ago is strange.

Clinching made a massive difference. Why do you think Wlad did it every 10 seconds?
He couldn't out box Povetkin on his best day. He won a cheating contest because he was taller. Nothing more.

Without cheat tactics , he has nothing to deal with Povetkin's inside game and counter hooks.
He knew it. Thats why he trained and performed to gamepaln of illegal bear hugging and wrestling.

Yes, because Triangular logic works 100% :patsch

In that case lets compare Byrds performance against Tua, to Ibeabuchis.. See how flawed your logic is?
