What part of the fact they're two different sports don't people understand? Of course no one in MMA can punch like a high-level pro boxer. Then again, I doubt Pacquiao has stellar kicks or a nice arm bar. atsch
The crowd were a little harsh on him this time. THe critiscism was somewhat justified in the Cote match, but Silva couldnt have done much more against such a negative ooponent imo.
Whatever. Semantics. You are basing your entire argument on your own interpretation of what I meant by a term that has no definitive meaning.
This is the UFC not PRIDE. Those beer swilling rednecks wouldnt know the diffrence between a RNC and a KO to the head. All they bay for is blood. Once there small brains arent entertained for longer than 10seconds boo'ing becomes there secondary reaction.
Exactly. The booing started about 30 seconds into the first round. I'm not even remotely an MMA fan, but even I could appreciate what Silva was doing and was getting annoyed that the crowd didn't seem to understand their own sport. :yep There are exceptions of course, and boxing fans will get on the back of someone fighting too defensively, but there is usually an understanding among boxing fans of the guts it takes to even step into the ring. I didn't see that in the UFC crowd or even from the commentators. It's not like Silva was fighting THAT defensively. He was just being smart with his attacks, in my humble opinion. Do UFC fans have a rep among fans of other MMA codes for being a bit clueless?
Thats the crux of the point. UFC fans have never understood MMA and are just frat boys who enjoy a good ol fashioned ruck. Its common knowledge UFC fans are the most disrepectful. The Japanese are a stark contrast to the meatheads that turn up at these UFC events. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule but by and large its common practice and has been for some years now. As for boxing our fans are diffrent. Again there arent really many comparisons. If a fighter is putting on a stinker ala Marquez vs Gainer we'll let them know. But its not often you'll hear boo'ing in a boxing arena because the fans are educated enough to know the monastic lives boxers live. UFC fans including Dana have no respect for their fighters.
Boxing fans are every bit as ******ed and can't understand boxing - just look at the endless 'robotic Klitschko's' threads when they like Silva, are clinical. Some even come from the writers of key sites for crying out loud!
Are you serious? Wlad has talent when he chooses to use it, but Vitali just happens to have perfected a style to suit his physique. He is effective, but "clinical" is the last word I'd use to describe him. That's like describing someone "clinically" knocking down a wall with a bulldozer. Neither of them should be compared to someone who probably the most complete and skilled athlete in his sport at any weight. When has Vitali shut-out the equivalent of the world Ju-Jitsu champion? When has Vitali even fought someone on that level??
The same **** happens in boxing all the time, it happened throughout the card of RJJ's last fight. They booed the MMA fighters but there was one boxing match there, the fighters names escape me, but they had a sound match where both fighters were exchanging constantly and were both very technical and the crowd booed them the whole time. Its not a MMA fan or a Boxing fan difference, its a typical casual fan who ends up at a live show because he got tickests through work and wants to impress some girl, or some other freak, they have 5 or 6 beer and then all of the sudden they are combat sports experts. I too was impressed by Anderson, one way you got to look at this though, Leites did not want to stand and Anderson didn't want to go to the gorund they are both at fault for the lackluster performance, because neither of them wanted to take any risk.
