It's called "faith". It might be silly to some people who aren't religious or who are atheists, but some people have a strong belife in "knowing" there's a higher power.

It's really not silly at all. What's "normal" to you, may not be normal for me. Who am I to say you are wrong and that I'm right?

Let's say you smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol and I don't. I begin to question your intelligence, inferred that you were stupid and that I was smarter becuase I didn't do either based on the scientific evidence to support the negative health risks. Yet you were on the deans list at Harvard and I only managed to get my G.E.D. Obviously we have a difference of opinion but for me to question the intelligence of a Harvard grad student when I'm only working with a high school education is very silly and a bit embarrassing if we are being honest. Just for the record, I graduated from U of MD. I'm catholic and I have family who are Morman. My sister is a pharmacist. One of the most intelligent people I know.
