Just watched Vitali Klitsckho vs Lennox Lewis a rematch would be pointless

He literally quotes what the judge said in the video as to how and why he enforced the legally binding rematch clause.

“He has to prove that wasn’t a lucky punch to me” doesn’t mean that Rahman is obligated to fight him for that reason. It means he’s saying ‘it was a lucky punch, get in the ring with me again and I’ll show you that you can’t do it again.” It’s called promoting a fight.

That’s far different from someone on a message board saying something along the lines of ‘Lennox didn’t prove he’s better than Vitali because he only beat him once, his standing should be lowered because he didn’t do it again.’

I'm not contesting the rematch clause, but the double standard behind your logic.
Lewis had the right to think that Rahman had to prove twice that he was superior to him, although he was knocked out convincingly. BUT, Klitschko is wrong to think that Lewis had to prove his win after a fight where he was leading on the scorecards and while still on his feet (I'm not contesting the stoppage by the way) and willing to fight.

We can also admire how delusional Lewis is about the knockout, talking about how he was counted out at 6, and not given the chance to recover.

I don’t see a double standard here. I don’t remember Klitschko ever saying that, but maybe he did.

For Lennox, when a rematch with Rahman is signed and he’s promoting it, to say ‘Hey, you landed a lucky punch, it won’t happen again’ is exactly what any promoter would want him to say. It’s exactly how any trainer would want him to think.

Did Vitali ever say ‘Lennox landed a lucky punch, he could never do it again?’

Mercer wasn't even a title fight there was hardly any need to rematch him. It was a close fight not a robbery. Lewis won the title next fight.

Watched it again last night. Pretty good fight - & a great example of why one of these guys is fairly over-rated, & the other, massively so. If Klitschko had any kind of a punch, he’d have won. Lewis was wide open all fight & got belted…but pillow fists couldn’t turn the trick.

A rematch would’ve been a boring, lopsided Lewis decision IMO. Klitschko was never in his class & got lucky with his opponent being in terrible shape.

He had the fight won in the 2nd. It just that he did what a lot of Lennox's opponents did. They have him hurt then just looks at him for him to recover. Rahman and Mcall basically just knocked him out in 1 punch.

Evander was the 1 guy that didn't do this ,the problem is that he has Cruiserweight power.

Watching Lennox fight more and more. I am seeing nothing that impresses me at all. Prime Holyfield and Prime Tyson beats him I'd say

I’ve always thought young Tyson eats him. Holyfield would be a competitive fight. I do think Lewis has become substantially over-rated.
