Watch Williams' ringwalk in Williams vs. Quintana I. He's carefree, laughing, enjoying his spotlight. He proceeds to get completely surprised and outboxed. That tends to happen when people get caught up in themselves.

lol. Cotto wouldn't stand a chance against Williams, and he and his people know this. Ever heard Cotto's camp call out Williams? No, I didn't think so.

    i think in the rematch

quintana was a lil too comfortable

i think in the 2nd fight quintana went in the fight with this mindset "yeah i already beat this guy silly im just gonna get this easy money"

paul williams mindset "I want my belt back I wanna compensate for that blemish on my record"

Maybe PW was too comfortable in the first fight.

Carlo's was just on his ****ing game that night. I was really great boxing to watch. Williams just had trouble with him , lost and then got pissed and Koed him 1st round and it was a beautiful Ko the first knock down was one of favorites. I didnt even have a sip outta my rum and coke and it was over. Arreala vs walker was on the card too i believe. Right around HBO was hyping up tacobell chris .

That's what happens when Williams didn't have any southpaws to sparr with in a 2 weeks notice before the first Quintana fight. When Williams sparr with Collazo for the rematch, he was prepare more and knew what Quintana would do. Williams needs to stop fighting a southpaw on a 2 weeks notice after preparing to face a right hand fighter,

You act as if Williams has strategy when he fights.... he himself has said they don't work on technical things during camp, strictly conditioning. PRetend all you want, but Williams brings the same style every time he fights, he throws punch and after punch and takes what he gets.

This is a myth. Cotto who doesn't call out fighters, after losing to Margo said he wanted to get back and fight the top guys and mentioned Margo and Williams. I've posted the source on two different ocassions and posters just fall back on saying that it doesn't mean he would beat Williams. I would look it up again but I think it's gone by now, it was on a thread made by hulkmania titled something like "Arum gives Cotto an ultimatum"

I'm a big Cotto fan. He's a credit to the sport. But I just don't believe that he'd want any part of Williams. Hell, No One at 147 wants any part of Williams.

I think there's truth to both. In the first Paul was probably overconfident because everyone thought he was a monster after outpointing Margo, and in the second one Quintana wasn't even sure if he was going to fight Williams because he(Quintana) was asking for more money as the champion. He didn't get the paycheck he wanted and he just went in there to outbox Williams like he had the first time and make better paychecks after that fight.

With Williams is more speculative while with Quintana (I live like 15 minutes away from him) I'm very sure he felt he was going to win the second fight even easier.

The article was from a Puertorican news paper saying Arum was giving Cotto an ultimatum to fight Jennings or he wasn't going to fight at all. Cotto wanted to fight sooner (in november instead of february) and he wanted to come back against a top fighter in which he mentioned a few names including Williams and the rematch with Margarito.

Carlos Quintana was a very good boxer. Not only did his footwork and the angles that he gave Williams give him(Williams) great difficulty, but he was also able to match Paul Williams workrate that night - something Antonio Margarito wasn't even able to do.

That version of Quintana would have made Berto look like the useless twat that he is.

That's being incredibly generous towards Williams.

117-111 is a more accurate scorecard.
