I don't think the points would have been taken off 'anywhere' I hardly ever see points taken away for pushing off.
Peterson draws a crowd. Not a massive one, but enough that he could make a living on the gate with a promoter like Main Events.
Ain't no ****er turning out for a Khan fight in the States, so by putting it in Peterson's home town, and with his bro on the undercard you've got a bit more of a chance of a big crowd. I was surprised by how big it was though, I guess the fight-starved locals warmed to them. It seems for those most part these days, nobody does a crowd on the east coast unless you tap in to the immigrant market-i.e. Cotto in New York and Adamek in Joizy. As for the results thing, glad I wasn't the only one that saw it, I presumed it was Ariza telling Khan he had won at the time, so was shocked when Peterson had won it. It did take a heck of a long time to read the results. They are usually pretty quick in the States, but even by German standards of waiting for results, last night was slow.
Exactly.. This should never have happened.. GBP shouldn't of let it happened.. Peterson refused to come to the UK... Khan shouldn't have fought in DC.. He was the champion.
I thought they were fine. I wish more refs would punish for things like that. It's not a legitimate move, it's not like Peterson was tying up and Khan pushed him off. Khan couldn't cope with Peterson on the inside, so pushed him off. it was a legitimate foul, he got warned again and again, he kept doing it, he got penalised. He kept looking at the ref through the fight: "Why aren't you helping me?"
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/dec/12/amir-khan-marcos-maidana-fight IIRC, that number was papered too.
Golden boy card in Vegas means about 25% of the people actually paid, and that's with Mexicans on the undercard who are draws in their own right, think Ortiz was on that card iirc
I agree khan ain't a big draw in the US, but there were almost 9,000 fans there yesterday and there would not be anywhere near that if Peterson was fighting someone like Bradley or Alexander.
I'm not sure what we're discussing, we seem to be saying the same thing. It's irrelevant that Khan's a draw in the UK because for some bizarre reason he;s opted to base himself in the US.
Khan is exciting to watch, I think he made a few more fans across the pond last night. I still think he has the ability to be a draw in the states, if gets his game together.
