It was not as bad as some of youn have made it out to be. It was defently one sided. I didn't bother to keep a score card but if I did I think I would have scored it 12 rounds to 0 for Vitali. I think that from a defensive prospicitive Johnson was outstanding. He was making Vitali miss through the fight. However as good as he was on the defensive side his offensive work left a lot to be disired. It was basicaly Jab and go back to defense or Jab, Jab go back to defense. Vitali was open all fight for the clasic 1,2 combo. Had Johnson done that along with his defense he could have stolen a round hear and there. I don't think he was going to knock Vitali off his feet but he could have opened a cut. Vitili did everything he could to win and make it as intresting of a fight as he could. He keept active throwing his jab often and also using his right hand. In the end Vitali worked harder and deserved the decision. However a good desinsive boxer who can put together combos has a real shot at beating Vital Klitchko.
I stopped watching after the third and fast forwarded to the 12th seeing as every round was the same ****. For a moment I thought KJ was gonna pull a rope-a-dope but he wasn't countering.
Same I felt like every round KJ was going to do something eventually but never did. Unlike Haye/Valuev it was obvious what Haye's gameplan was after the 2nd.
Johnson's defense was not outstanding. Vitali was slow and arm punching, and it made Johnsoon look better. It was a C+ effort from Vitali and an F- from Johnson. It was horrible and both fighters owe me an hour of my life back. Keith
I think he hesistated and got scared of Ivan Drago whenever he was going to pull the trigger. This K bro is known for being particularly cold-blooded and vicious in the ring. He seems like a dork outside the ring but in-fight he just petrifies people.
..........he was marked up from sparring before the fight................look at pre fight piks at weigh in.......
Nice to hear somebody else dares to say 'outstanding defense' since KJ has an outstanding defense. However, Vitali was 'open for the 1-2' for a reason (I'm quite surprised people don't realize this just weeks after the Arreola fight, also after the highly skilled Gomez fight): he has superb punch estimation and he's excellent beating fighters to the punch, therefore he badly wanted Johnson to open up with the 1-2 to counter KJ's right. VK is very good at this, he WANTS YOU to go for the opening. However Johnson didn't fall into the trap and since Vitali never offered a clean counter target, Kevin said 'no thanks, I won't open up to get beat to a pulp, rather got 0-12 in rounds', which he did. A fighter with less brains and more heart would've opened up only to get beat to a pulp. The irony that Johnson was so smart that he relized he can't beat Klitschko, so he went 100% on the defensive without giving himself a chance to win even one round. F*ck him for that. Manny Steward said in some interview he couldn't believe how masterful Vitali's at traps: he makes you (and the trainer including Manny at the time) believe he's there to counter, but the guy has punch estimation probably like few other in the sport, pulls his head back very well and counters. It's quite shocking that people don't give proper credit to Vitali, I think he's vastly superior than his little brother. He just doesn't look so good doing it, but he's still doing it. It was a match-up I personally (and many very good experts who knew Gomez) felt Vitali could lose. But Klitschko put the good defensive boxer with combinations in his place.
