Hey man...don't be sore because my boxing knowledge clearly exceeds yours. i can understand why you would be upset and bitter, though. it must be torture to get owned like a used car.:yep
If he would'ved boxed and moved (his head) more that would have been possible I think. I think the reason he didn't last untill the 12th was because he lacked this, not because Vitaly was that good. Gomez is a boxer but he just went right after Vitaly and standing quite often in front of him. All things that he once was very good in I think. Maybe Gomez didn't expect vitaly do be that fast with his hands. Still I will always keep on saying that Vitaly has an ugly style and looks like a novice the way he moves that body of him, so clumsyatsch Not particularly beautiful:roll: but effective he is.
Stamina-wise, Vitali was horrible..I think 2nd or 3rd rnd, he was already exhausted..But still did an impressive win..
I for one thought that Vitaly looked quite impressive in the later rounds of his encounter with Gomez whose style is certainly not tailor made for Vitaly. Gomez is an akward boxer,a stinker, whose fights are no feast for our eyes.. Whowever expected Vitaly to give Gomez short shrift must have been daydreaming. Vitaly didnt put his best foot forward, but the very fact that he came up stiff opposition in the first 2-3 rounds and that he had to pull his socks up a little bit made Vitaly's performance that impressive. He had been out of the ring for ages, isnt the youngest heavy anymore, and faced an opponent who was of tough stock and didnt enter the ring to be slaughtered like Vitaly's last opponent, the African Sam Peter. All in all Vitaly's performance wasnt that bad at all. And by the way you seemed to watch your first fight with Vitaly Klitschko. Otherwise, you would have known that he usually fights with his hands down. Vitaly 's style is a little bit weird, but he has a proven track record which shows that his syles suits him very well.Nothing wrong with it! Tyson in his prime? Who knows? He might have knocked out Vitaly in the very first round.Or Vitaly would have beaten the living **** out of Tyson. We will never know it for sure!
But he didn't even look that good against Virchis & McCall... I wasn't surprised that he lost to Vitali (check my posts from before the fight), but what surprised me was how awful Vitali looked. He was so slow that it looked like he was fighting underwater. He should thank his lucky stars that the division is so weak. He would get badly exposed by any number of top-10 HW's from the 70's 90's and even some from the 80's. It makes me laugh how sucked in by hype everone is nowadays. Haye, Vitali, Sam Peter, heck, even Ike Ibeabuchi.... they are all MYTHS. None of them did or have done anywhere near enough to justify the level of man-love their nuthuggers have.
I liked how Gomez forced Vitali to move more often than he wanted to (would have liked it more if he could have done so without simply bulling in with his head), but the power/aggression/will wasn't there to capitalize. These rings may be small and all, but these sparring-partners-of-the-month seem to sure love to stay in the pocket, stop moving & punching and lower their guard whenever they're at the perfect distance for full extension on a right hand.
