I mean, after recent stellar performances and just beating Trinidad at a catchweight above the 168 division - why do these rankings still have him behind Calzaghe? http://www.iboboxing.com/rankings/168.html Damn, I thought computerized rankings were the way forward too. They also mention that after being measured by computer technology (similar to the Hawkeye system used in tennis and cricket), RJJ actually landed his jab 0.08 seconds quicker against Trinidad than Calzaghe did against Kessler (on average). So what went wrong with the rankings? :huh
It does tell you one thing though.... That even at this stage of Roys career, when he is clearly shot, he is still faster then Calzaghe. So much for all the fan boys who thought otherwise. Roys legs are his biggest problem right now. His footspeed is like that of a heavyweight.
Today, he'd have to beat him, which would be very hard in his current state (but not impossible). Historically, Roy could lose his next 5 fights and he'd still be at least 10 places above Calzaghe. :yep
roy jones was one of the greatest fighters ever to grace the ring, beat a long string of ATG's and one of the bext multi-weight reigns since SRR. lost 3 times and came back from adversity to beat another ATG and looked very good. calzaghe, beat a bunch of bums over the last 10-11 years then homed in on some pitter patter contender who jones would have demolished (lacey/kessler). I'm with jones on this argument and he deserves his spot above the JC man
If his average jab speed is quicker than everyone else in the division (except Anthony Mundine who lands 0.03 seconds quicker than RJJ), he should be able to dominate all except the Australier legend.
