Just woke up and I’m still in absolute awe of Wilder

The power is so freakish. He’s UNDERWEIGHT at 6’7” for a Heavyweight pugilist yet his bone crushing power is destroying 240lb+ men with ease.

He’s so technically flawed yet can change the outcome of the fight with just one right hand effortlessly.

He showed immense heart and chin and his confidence is limitless.

He’s an absolute beast of a man. I really was convinced Ortiz would win all year. Today Wilder has my respect and admiration and it should be the same for everyone who used to doubt and mock him here.

who has wilder fought apart from a 60 year old inactive Ortiz? and with him he struggled and nearly got knocked out.

Wilder is way way behind fury and behind joshua

Don’t detract from Ortiz now. Ortiz is a world class southpaw and Wilder beat him.

Only Fury has the skill level and physical attributes to beat him out of the current heavyweights.

Yes. Wilder showed great chin and heart, also recovered very well in short time period BUT...

We should not Forget what happened in the 9 rounds before...

    1. Ortiz was superior & better & way more skilled boxer out there
    2. Ortiz caught him badly and rocked him as hard as nobody did in the past, the fight was Close to be over
    3. Ortiz was ****ed by the judges although he was at least two rounds ahead -> would be the robbery of the century for sure
    4. Ortiz was ****ed by the Referee who gave wilder some extra time to recover after he get hammered the round before
    5. Wilder is technically one of the worst fighters i have ever seen winning and defending a world title. It is ridiculous how Wilder gets outboxed by names like Szpilka, Washington or Ortiz (way more than outboxed i think) but still wins those fights with ONE powerful right Hand. Of Course he deserves respect for this but still he is sooo damn lucky to win all of those fights although the Judges would have helped him anyway.

It will be interesting. I really hope we get the AJ vs Wilder fight later this year. No matter if the fight in the UK or in the US, Wilder will get destroyed there. He will have absolutely ZERO Chance there with his style and his skills to survive that. No way. I guarantee you that.

The hate campaign was so strong against Ortiz that people forgot he's a pretty decent boxer. Wilder wanted to prove himself to the fans against this guy and it almost went wrong for him. Rather than appreciating a great back and forth HW fight that ended in a great finish , all people want to do in stick their pitch forks in.

Fair is fair though and Wilder did look pretty horrendous at times. What on earth happened to his jab? Did he not commit to it for fear of the over hand left counter? Either or , it was useless.

Dare i say he's the best finisher in the sport. I can think of Gassiev , but who else?

Above all else its time to put the myth of his glass whiskers to bed. Jennings went into the Ortiz fight with an iron jaw and it went in just 6 rounds. Wilder easily took full forced blows to the head and body and his bambi legs didn't even wobble out from under him.

    Great fight i thought . Rating 8/10 :sun_smiley:

Fury beats them both but wilder can knock aj out just like aj can knock wilder out. Imo AJ better get wilder out of there early because the longer the fight goes the more that favors wilder who has better stamina. Btw ortiz was a good win and aj wouldnt fight him and many here said wilder would duck ortiz or ortiz would knock him out. Now after the fight some of those same people are full of excuses and no credit given, those type of posters have no credibility. It doesnt work like that. He deserves credit.

Wilder's chin is better than I thought and his power is still tremendous. He's also got a big heart and I think it's fair to acknowledge this. However, for a guy with such a record, he looks very, very beatable. Let's also be honest about that.

Great win for Wilder and yeah he took Ortiz's best punches, survived, and found a way to win. But this was Ortiz minus PEDs, so the comparison with how previous opponents coped with his power is flawed. That said, Wilder's rep was enhanced on Saturday night.

I'm in awe in how a man with such a slim dangly frame can possess such devastating power.

No evidence of roids just pure natural ability and athletism.

And what a great spectacle of boxing it was last night. Genuinely raised the hairs off my skin each time a blow was landed.

Those who nitpick and attempt to discredit and undermine the abilities of either fighter last night, are not true fans/lovers of the sport of boxing and don't deserve the privilege of having any access to view such fights.

That fat flabby tubbaguts could beat them but he can't beat himself. There's not a pie in England that's safe from him. What a waste of talent.

Wilder obviously has major flaws but his conditioning, punching power and killer instinct make him a very dangerous opponent for any HW.

Check the behind the back load against other killers. There is technique to it I think. Foreman, Marciano, and Wilder all load from behind the back or under the ass, I do not think this is coincidence. Most fighters lack the balls to even try it because the opening you're giving is usually too much, but these boys play hit me I hit you back harder boxing and don't care as much about opening as they do power.

They said for the longest Marciano was all power and had no skills, but if you look at him by his own standards his power is his skills. Baiting from bell one, patiently studying the attack, and when the planet align, crack goes the thunder of the gods letting all know even if they can't feel it in these terms, our lord Apollo, god of boxing, lives.

edit - not sure what the pre quote stuff was, must have came here before and did not finish or noticed the incomplete before I hit the quote and started my bull****.
