Considering how much the networks had invested in Hamed, you know that MAB was winning rounds absolutely beyond doubt and any other interpretation, they very much wanted Hamed to win that fight and tried to give him rounds. MAB didn't allow it. He was just that much better and showed it round after round after round.

 

Obvious one everyone's missed - Calzaghe-Lacy..Calzaghe shut up not just Lacy and his trainer, but a whole ****ing nation talking **** about him.

Lacy wasn't a big arrogant ****-talker, he just said typical fighter stuff, and there were plenty of people who weren't convinced about Lacy based on his difficulties with Sheika. It's just that most of us didn't think it would really take all that much of a fighter to beat Calzaghe. I still don't. He avoided tough US competition, except for Lacy, until they were ancient shells of their former selves.

I do believe Cal would have had several losses hung on him if he had been bold enough to cross the pond and get in the mix when B Hops ruled the roost and there were tough guys in the division. He's a good fighter, but he's far from great. He was just very careful in his matchmaking and timing.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned RJJ vs Tarver II or RJJ vs Johnson. Tarvers got a mouth of his own and I have every RJJ fight on DVD but he always pissed me off the way he disrespected his opponents. I used to hate it when he would come out rapping in the intro. I did take satisfaction in seeing him sparked by one punch. Donaire vs Darchinyan (sp?) is also a good one. He personally doesn't irk me but he is a cocky little *******.
