Jessie Cris Morales Rosales vs. Mioto Noguchi, 6 rounds @ super lightweight

 

Round 1

Noguchi unfurling a long southpaw jab, backing the considerabl shorter Rosales into a corner. The well traveled Pinoy, fighting at home for just the second time since 2017, is giving up four inches of height and 4½" of reach. Tough job for "The VIP" to get in close and do any effective work. The visitor from Japan thumping some hard right hooks on the body from outside as Rosales tries a ducking charge. High probing left jab by Rosales, shot out from his brow while keeping his right hand at home for defense. Wild looping right by Rosales backing Noguchi against the ropes and their heads clash. Both a tad hurt but neither asks the referee for a reprieve. Hard body shots by Noguchi. Right hooks and harpoon lefts. Rosales down and out, writhing on the ground.

KO1!!

 

Could say that was a minor upset. The "away team" fighter brought a 4-2 professional record, compared with Rosales' weightier 23-5-1.

This was, however, Noguchi's fifth KO1 - comprising all of his victories. New gunslinger from the Land of the Rising Sun.

 

Commentators being very supportive of Rosales, saying he shouldn't be down on himself or let this define him as either a fighter or a man and they're proud of him. Just a very different vibe from listening to boxing telecasters in just about every other country.

 

Jimmy Ramiso Cannu, Jr. vs. Reycar Auxilio, 8 rounds @ super bantamweight

 

Featherfisted lefty infighter war.

Planting right hooks on each other's cheeks in a phonebooth and not flinching.

 

"Jim-Jim", or "Batang Waraynan" Cannu is being besieged by "The Machine" Auxilio with a constant pelting of 1-2s at mid-range. Commentators say it's quantity vs. quality but I'm honestly not seeing a ton of quality from JRC to justify the round being all that close. 5th very clear for the busy pressure fighter IMO.

 

Much better 6th for Cannu, walking Auxilio into the jab. Cannu able to build off the jab and land some combinations. Good left uppercut and right hook swung in rhythm on the sliding backfoot. Haymakers up top from Auxilio, with steadily decreasing snap on them. Excellent bounceback for Jim-Jim.

 

I've been playing musical chairs at the library, using computers from another decade and finally have found one that doesn't crap out with lag every thirty seconds while attempting to stream Facebook video with another browser tab open at the same time. I was at one point ten minutes behind, caught up live now. Fingers crossed it sticks the rest of the way.

 

7th as much a tug of war as the previous two rounds were clear for either man. Cannu being pushed onto the ropes, Auxilio's head buried in his chest, both fists smashing into his sides - but short counter lefts from Cannu drilling into Auxilio's jaw.

 

Oof, that nerdy ponytailed Filipina ring card girl could get all the smoke.
