Fun fight. A great measuring stick for Huni. As it would be his first appearance on the big stage, I think he'd be a little reserved against a 'puncher' like Helenius - which wouldn't help him. If Huni comes out with confidence and puts out the same sort of volume, I'd happily tip my hat in Huni's favour. His timing, hand speed, and footwork all stack up to beat Helenius. Helenius also has a pretty suspect chin. Good scrap!
What are people here on about? Lol Huni is taller than Usyk and 10kgs heavier than him. He’s never going to be anything other than a big heavyweight, he’s 23 years old.
The Bridger limit is 224lb… Huni came in at 242 - post bulk for this fight. Although he is 6 ft 4 (actually around 6 ft 3) he could happily make the 224 limit. You’re talking 5-7kg for someone who isn’t a big heavyweight. You also quote his age as if that makes it harder for him to make the 223 limit - it doesn’t.
That's the amateurs, which is totally different. Even the biggest punchers struggle to put guys away in the amateurs.
I'm saying he doesn't look like that big of a heavyweight despite being big by any other era's standards. If he could've made it to cruiserweight it would suit him a lot better, but he can't so that's my point.
He means that he'll only put on bulk from here on out and it'll be harder for him to make bridgerweight once he fully fills out. Im not sure about bridgerweight. I guess as a smaller HW the speed will be his defining attribute, and the power less important. He's passed the Goddall, Gallen and Opelu tests. Let's see him deal with a big, rangy, clever, crafty HW and not the domestic resistance.
Mckean is ranked in the IBF, that's a fight Huni would like. But Mckean probably ownn't go for it unless it's for a lot of cash. If no Mckean, then Browne for his WBA 15th spot ranking, for the plastic belt.
This is where my suggestion of McKean comes in handy because McKean is that big, rangy, clever and crafty type (albeit not powerful). Not to mention he's a southpaw which adds another wrinkle of complexity for Huni to overcome. The fact that it's a good local dust-up between world ranked fighters makes it all the better, the fanfare would be wild for it and the money would be enticing for both men.
McKean is also ranked by the WBO, both the IBF and WBO have him ranked #10. Huni also won himself some trinket regional titles for the IBF and WBO today, as well as the OPBF which is a legitimately respected regional belt which usually earns a good ranking with the WBC. If Huni gets rankings based on winning those titles in each of those organisations, there's even more reason to make the fight.
Doesn't do much for Mckean's organisation ranking, but yeah I'd like to see Huni in against him. If Mckean passes on that, he'll go into the volunatray defence lottery; becasue I think everyone above him in the IBF beats the breaks off him. Below Mckean we have Zhang and Kash Ali, who hasn't done anything after the Price farce. God knows how he snuck into the IBF rankings, but there's myriad guys more worthy. Ali vs Mckean? Or Mckean Huni with a big pay check in Aus? Mckean needs a big win in Australia vs Browne or someone to drum up interest for a Huni/Mckean fight. Huni beats Mckean imo. Let's not forget Johnathon Rice gave Mckean all he could handle and much more.
Oh right. Didnt see that hes in with the WBO. Yep I guess Huni creeps into a spot somewhere after this win next month.
To be fair to McKean, Rice is a handful for guys at a pretty high level. It seems you need a good pedigree to totally outclass him or blow him out of there. If McKean were to be honest about his career prospects, he'd probably realise that the Huni fight is a very lucrative option for him. It's not even impossible for him to win, I'd give him a decent chance with his awkward style.
Mikhailovich is scheduled to fight Francis Waitai next and from what I saw, Waitai who got robbed in his fight against Gipp, could pose some real problems. Could be a very good NZ domestic scrap where Mikhaliovich could have a difficult night.
You don’t know what you’re talking about. Beterbiev damn near stopped everyone he fought in the amateurs. Medzhidov would’ve had over a hundred knockouts in the amateurs. Both Joshua and Wilder had been sparked clean out in the amateurs. Especially in the super heavyweight division you regularly have knockouts.
Hey 23 year old who weighs 242lbs, you would do better at cruiserweight. You don’t look that big. Hahaha some boxing fans
