Oh damn, and Phoyaem is only 19? These guys are both gonna retire by 25 because of this fight.

 

10-9 Hatanaka, starting to really dial in the 1-2, repeatedly nailing Phoyaem with it but the awkward Thai proves stubborn like a mule and tough as the proverbial old shoe leather...knees sagging numerous times as though he were about to fall but always either moving laterally or coming up with a timely flurry to hold off Hatanaka...

10-9 Hatanaka, nearly 10-8, just beating Phoyaem senseless now, picking him off with surgical precision and landing unanswered combinations without letting Phoyaem get a glove in edgewise, bashing the body and then drilling Phoyaem in the brain-pain, over & over, Phoyaem down once it seemed but not given a count by the ref, might have erroneously ruled it a slip (definitely seemed caused by a punch to me) - his corner really needs to have a look at stepping in and saving him from himself.

Ordinarily that back-flip in the middle of the ring would get a 7.5/10, but considering he just fought 7+ hard rounds, I'm going to bump him up a full integer for degree of difficulty.

I don't think I could do a flip like that period, but certainly not after two rounds of even hard sparring, let alone what he just went through.

(all that said, he didn't stick the landing)

 

Kento preserves his perfect stoppage record, now 8-0 (8).

With this first defense of his WBC Youth flyweight title, he might vault himself into the organization's top 40 (several of his countrymen are in front of him, but a handful probably deserve lower spots)
