K1...DO SOME K1 GUYS PUNCH HARDER then MANY TOP HEAVYWEIGHT BOXERS

When I look at Overeem and Saki for talent alone, I think K1 might have better heavies physically. Heavyweight boxing is poor physically. Outside of Wlad, Vitali and Haye, I am not really impressed.

I don't think these guys punch like top boxers. The format encourages a devastating approach.

 

Boom. Look at how short the fights are. Do you think a behemoth like Overeem could survive 12 rounds? Not even remotely possible. The rounds are much shorter and so are the fights. But like you say the better raw talent vs the heavys in boxing is in the K1.

 

The lack of defense/chin resistance and short rounds make for more knockouts. HW boxing still has more talent IMO, but that is completely subjective since they are two different sports.

Defence is more of an issue than physical chin I'd say, kickboxing naturally leads to a more open aggresive game with a greater posibility of being caught off balance.

 

Yeah, but guys are getting knocked out by jabs.

I like K-1 so this isn't really an issue and it only makes fights more exciting, but guys like Hari, Overeem, Zimmerman, Le Banner and even Bonjansky and Schilt have questionable punch resistance. I'm surprised that Karaev is still alive after all those devastating KOs.

 

I really do enjoy K1, I just wish it was more popular, it's very hard to follow.

 

Peter Aerts has a pretty good jaw, but his boxing defence is pretty bad. He's wide open and that also explains why Hari could get to him that early or why he lost to guys like Abidi, Bernardo, Kyotaro. He eats too many punches.

Bernardo had devastating punches with left and right, always threw with very bad intentions.
Sefo had a heavy punch as well, Mo, Hunt, Le Banner.

As a whole Overeem would walk trough many top level boxers.

 

What exactly are you basing this on? Do you actually think under Queensbury rules Overeem would stand a chance even with the likes of Samuel Peter?

Chester has a pretty good record; 16 wins with 11 KO's. Only lost once by KO to Tony Tompson. Sefo got caught, but I'd say Chester is not just a random bum as people might think he is.
