    Missed this first time round.

This is basically what's happening now. Fighters are choosing not to accept the contracts on offer.

The ones that do, are either desperate or have no other options.

I feel cloud is a very good, up and coming fighter. He doesn't really reflect that amatuer petigree at times but I think he has enough to give anyone around his weight a very tough fight off of the natural attributes. Not to mention he is young and his flaws seem fixable.

His defense get's lazy at times and he doesn't react to shots. That's the only real flaw he has which can be a big one if he faces an active, accurrate puncher who can handle Clouds own power. Then we will also be able to rate that chin.

Hasn't really fought the best because the best don't like fighting the best at that weight for whatever reasons. When he does he will be a very tough. His power, speed and sharpness are good. Only thing is his discipline on Defense. A great fighter has to be offensive and defensive at the same time to be at the top level.

Cloud is very promissing IMO and time will tell how he fares against Pascal, Dawson and maybe Erdei. We will see pretty soon because I feel cloud is gonna keep stepping up his comp.

Its no big secret - everyone by now ought to know the K bros, as nice and professional as they are, are very stingy negotiators perhaps more so than King or Golden Boy. The comment by Byrd was accurate - they try to force you into certain situations, even if you're a top contender with some leverage. They've bult up a brand, principally in Germany and want to protect it. Its their right, but it sucks when it contributes to killing fights and we have to settle for Klitchkos fighting utterly anonymous, undeserving fighters like Chisora or Sosnowski. However, I still believe Haye got a reasonable offer.

So now Solis joins the list, some choice quotes from the article.

    http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/solis-camp-rips-klitschko-71602

“The offer we got from the Klitschko side are not what we have been expecting. In addition they don’t want to comply to any of our requests. We have made a counter offer but so far they didn’t respond to that. So I guess we’ll have to go to purse bid”

“The Klitschkos’ arrogance really pisses me off”, adds Odlanier Solis. “My promoter informed me about every step in the negotiations and it looks to me like Vitali is trying to take advantage of me. I will make him pay for that. This is not about money – it’s about respect."

“Maybe the Klitschkos think that they can get out of the fight by making ridiculously low offers. But I have to disappoint them. If money is a real problem I would even do the fight for no purse at all. Of course, only if Vitali accepts to fight for no money as well. I will not let him take advantage of me. If money is not a problem the only other explanation I can think of is that Klitschko might know that this will be his last big pay-day because I will end his career. But to be honest I don’t care about him or him motives. All I can say is that now I understand why the fight between David Haye and either Klitschko hasn’t happened so far. Until now I thought Haye was afraid. But if the Klitschkos are always as arrogant as they present themselves in our negotiations, I have to say that I understand Haye for not signing a contract. But sorry, Vitali, I am not David Haye. I will fight you anyways. You can run but you can’t hide. I will get my hands on you and become the first ever Cuban heavyweight champion of the world.”

"They are always trying to take advantage of their strong position. When it comes to the fight between Vitali and Solis they have to understand that Solis is the mandatory challenger which puts us in a strong position as well. And we don’t have to agree to all of their terms although we definitely want the fight. Anyways, we will make sure that the fight happens.”

I'm losing count now guys how many is that????

these are PROMOTER expenses not paying them is wrong expecially in the hurt business:

    2. If Povetkin does not appear on one of the press events organized by K2, K2 will fine him the amount of at least $250,000 dollars.

    3. K2 refuses to pay for relocation expenses, hotel accommodations, meals and transportation to and from the fight location, etc.

    4. K2 refuses to provide health insurance for the duration of the fight and commits Povetkin to bear all of the costs of all medical expenses in treating injuries that he may receive in the fight.

Yup, and then some, and that's for a mandatory. I have a feeling it's the same scenario with Solis.

Check the history of K2 vs Arena with the Vitali vs Gomez negotiations. Just like Solis Gomez was a mandatory. Arena's CEO Öner was unhappy with the terms offered by K2 and was crying foul. Bönte told him "If you don't like it, let's goto a purse bid and everyone will behappy". One day before the purse bid deadline an agreement was reached.

Fast forward to Solis. Öner once again crying foul. Bönte says "Fine, let's goto the purse bid." Now last week we hear Öner asked for the purse bid deadline to be extended because the's confident an agreement can be found.

Stop deluding yourself with the non-sense whining.

Explain to me why Lennox Lewis "only" paid a prime Shannon Briggs $1.5 million Dollars and Vitali paid the shot Briggs $1.2 million for a voluntary defense. How are the Klits greedy? Or was Lennox greedy too? Why didn't Lennox pay Briggs $4 million?

What type of drugs are you doing?

Tell me what keeps the fighter from going to an insurance company and getting himself a health/injury insurance. Povetkin was guaranteed a $2.2 million Dollar payday. He can't pay health insurance from that? :deal

I am appalled how little common sense have here in the forums. Every generic contractor agreement would require the contractor to arrange a health insurance coverage for himself.

$1.5 million is $2 million in todays money. Briggs earned $500k for Vitali.

"When I called Shannon a few months ago and told him about the Vitali fight, he didn't ask me about money; he said, 'Take it.' I told him, 'It's not great money. (Cohen and Briggs say the purse is $500,000.) He said, 'I don't care. It shows you where his head is."

    http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/news/story?id=5677966

That's right, 13 years ago Briggs earned 4x what he did against Vitali. I'll also point out Lewis earned $4 million ($5.5 million today). I'm willing to bet Vitali earned at least 7-8 million.

Brilliant argument, true pat on the back stuff, I'm really deluded.

It's not just Briggs, it's the whole list. One or two boxers, no biggie, 3-4 mmmm, 5-6 definetly smell a rat, the amount I've listed without a doubt **** isn't right.

Or how about you address these facts:

But even the voluntary defence contracts are below standard:
Toney earned $2.8 million vs Rahman and $1.1 million for the eliminator vs Peter yet somehow $1.5 million for a title shot vs Wlad is fair?
Tua earned $500k vs SHANE CAMERON and somehow $400k vs Klitschko is fair?

Point taken about ad******g for inflation/purchasing power.

Briggs earned 750,000 EURO = approx. $1.2 million US Dollars. Still. This is the old, shot version who hasn't had a meaningful win in half a decade. Vs. the 26 year old version hyped by HBO who came off a fresh win vs. George Foreman.

How paying an old Briggs who was knocking out bums in 200 seat venues for $5,000 per nigth a decent enough $1.2 million Dollar retirement purse is a sign of greed is beyond me!

Source: http://www.rp-online.de/sport/mehr/boxen/Er-wollte-das-Handtuch-werfen_aid_920140.html -> "Als Schmerzensgeld erhält Briggs 750.000 Euro Kampfbörse." :deal

You are grossly mistaken about the brother's earnings. Quoting Bild.de, the brothers net around 3 million EUROS per fight after all costs.

Source: Google translate http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/mehr-...-vitali-klitschko/geldmaschine-klitschko.html -> "Davon bekommt zunächst der kämpfende Klitschko 3 Millionen." :deal

So let me get this straight. The brothers make $4 million per fight, just like Lennox made for the Briggs fight. It's OK for Lennox to pay his opponent $1.5 vs his $4 million earnings. But when the Klits offer Toney the same $1.5 million when they take home $4 million just like Lennox did it's a sign of greed.

Your entire argument doesn't hold the simplest arithmetic test.

    Straight from Klitschko's own mouth.

    By Ruslan Chikov

The world heavyweight champion of the WBC, Vitali Klitschko, has issued a reponse to the recent comments made by former champion Nikolai Valuev. The "Russian Giant" said Klitschko was not offering enough money to make a fight between the two of them possible. Klitschko does not give the amount, but says the amount of money received by Shannon Briggs was much less than the amount of money that was offered to Valuev.
"Valuev has made comments that there hasn't been enough money to make the fight. The amount that Briggs received for our fight, was many times less than what I presented to Nicholas. But the millions of dollars that were offered - Nicholas calls pathetic - and he uses every opportunity to avoid getting in the ring," Klitschko told URA.

    http://www.***********.com/?m=show&id=32102 (the scene of boxing)

Now, consider the dating of the article 22/10/2010, and the fact Valuev and Klitschko are arguing about the $1.5 and $1.2 million offers. This is what Vitali said Briggs recieved "Many times less".

    Oops.
