    Lame

    Per Steve Kim:

"My understanding is that the WBC/Canelo/GGG situation is that both sides have agreed to allow Alvarez a voluntary defense with the understanding that both sides(Canelo-GGG) would then try and negotiate a fight afterwards for a fight... I believe the GGG side wants stronger language that basically binds Canelo into a fight after their voluntary defenses. At some point, the WBC will have to stop trying to placate both sides(GGG/Canelo) and make a hard decision... #boxing"

I'm hoping Golovkin or Canelo can somehow persuade the winner of Lee/Saunders in the ring with them, so then the September fight will be a unification of all belts for an undisputed championship.

Still, wouldn't shock me if Canelo just pulls a Cotto and drops the belt after his voluntary to dodge the situation.

It's sad but kinda funny at the same time how blatantly scared fighters are of GGG.

They will be getting more step aside money. Must be nice getting paid for nothing.

And the best part, our new lineal Mw champion fights at 155 and will drain the next Mw challenger to face him. So basically, same situation we were in with Cotto.

Oscar made clear what he wanted, "We have THE guy, and we are going to build the Golden Boy stable around him."

Kinda hard to do that when he gets knocked out in his next fight. Can't imagine how frustrating this is for K2 and GGG promotions. Still, as long as they're getting paid on the sideline, I guess it can't be too frustrating...

Why did GGG agree to it then? If he wants to step aside like a moron (without even getting paid for it) instead of enforcing his mandatories he only has himself to blame.

I thought Golovkin was only concerned about winning the "belt".

I think GGG is suffering from a battered wife syndrome, he liked getting hosed by Cotto and WBC, now it's Canelo's turn.

I never liked K2, now I'm starting to like GGG a lot less.

Yea, I don't know the exact details (like if WBC was refusing to strip Canelo) but until I find out then they'll have to get some of the blame.

I think it's a possible scenario that K2 wanted the fight next, and GBP didn't. Obviously.... but WBC was being wishy-washy about the strippage if Canelo refused. So, instead of being in the situation where GGG is just screwed with Canelo fighting his next fight with 0 consequence, K2 decided to at least get them on paper with strong language of a Sept fight that binds GBP into a fight with them (so, I'm guessing contractual). That way Canelo fights the voluntary that would've been allowed regardless, but K2 at least gets them in a situation where they won't have any escape room after May. Plus, a step-aside to ease the pain.

    Maybe, idk :conf

This is now team GGGs fault. You cant keep complaining about being ducked when you keep agreeing to step aside. Force it to the end and don't play ball, or just move to 68 and fight someone good for a change.

Meh. Not surprised at all. There's no way Canelo would fight GGG next. The question is, which middleweight will agree to get drained to 155?
