If the sanctioning body won't force Alvarez to fight Golovkin now, they won't in September. Oscar does not want this fight and he appears to have more pull than K2. I am with you and Barcham in that I want Alvarez to fight Golovkin at 160 but I suspect that even if Golovkin agreed to come in at 155, Oscar would find some reason to avoid the fight. I just don't see this fight happening, no matter what Golovkin agrees to. Golovkin probably doesn't either, that's why he is taking the step aside money.

Some of these ESB morons think GGG fights for them.

Every fighter is in it for the payday, its the main reason why fighters avoid eachother. If there's an easier fight out there for basically the same money, there isn't a fighter around that's going to take the harder matchup just to please the fans.
    Pretty simple really.

I agree. It wasn't a blatant duck by any means like his haters like to call it. But his fans like it or not, he chose to chase to become a ppv star rather than daring to be great.

I wouldn't care, I'd enforce it. Because if the man is not going to fight me even if his belt is stripped, he probably never would have. And even beside that, how long can you wait and play these games? It's time to man up and just go for it. He's almost grovelling just begging to get that payday which has become pathetic.

Funny thing is, I always believed that Cotto would be more likely to fight Golovkin than Alvarez, albeit at a catchweight. Cotto calls his own shots while Alvarez has Oscar on his shoulder whispering in his ear not to fight Golovkin.

I have so much respect for Lemieux. I think Lee has the same mentality. We need more fighters like them. I mean imagine, Lemieux JUST won the IBF title he worked hard for and faced the most-avoided fighter immediately after. Sure, he was paid handsomely, but still. You gotta love a fighter like that. He could've easily held on to the title and made a few defenses, but nope. Like he said, to be the best you have to beat the best.

People got to understand here, Canelo Alvarez has paid his dues.
He fought Austin Trout fresh out of Trout dominating Cotto.
He fought Erislandy Lara when everyone was saying he was a bad style matchup and there was no way Canelo would take that fight.
Now that Canelo has beaten a fighter that the public recognize (Cotto). Canelo is in position to command a certain amount of money.
Canelo vs Golovkin is a potential huge money fight if its made when the time is right.

Canelo-Golovkin will happen when there's a real public demand for it. At the present time, only boxing fans are chomping at the bit to see this matchup, unfortunately that doesn't = $$$ for one Canelo Alvarez.

Get in line Mr. GGG, when the public recognizes you and the demand is there, Canelo will be waiting with open arms, count on it!!!

K2 are hypocrites, they act is if everyone else is ducking or chasing the $$$ and they do the exact same thing. You cant act high and mighty when you are no better than they are. Theres no excuse not to force the mandatory its not like Canelo has been forced to rematch like the Fury situation.

Dont try and defend this situation its pointless.

Well he's not going to get the public to recognize him on that level without opponents such as Canelo, so it's a catch 22.

    When the demand is there?

If they signed to fight tomorrow, think the demand wouldn't be there?

Is anyone going to say, "They probably should've waited a few more years. I'm not ready to watch this. It's too soon. Too soon!"

    :-(

That fight is even harder to make due to Haymon-HBO situation. If Andy Lee beat Saunders next week, demanding him would be a lot more logical.

Ffs i doubt Canelo is scared of any man below 168ish, he's just wanting to get paid what he thinks he's worth. Golovkin is the biggest test at 160 but probably wouldnt make Canelo much more than some of the other contenders. Canelo wants ggg to get a bit more popular so he can cash in. Whats Canelo going to do @ 160 (155) if he beats Ggg? He'd almost have to move up then, so it dont make $ or sense.

Ggg could move to 168 to face challenges but he wants to clean out 160 1st so its the same thing
