    The fight won't happen!

K2, in their usual negotiating style will claim that Golovkin is the A-side and therefore qualifies for 70% of the purse.
GBP is weak right now so they may even agree to this nonsense just to make the fight but K2's other terms may be what kill the deal.

To avoid Lara, Quillin, Ward, and others who have called him out, GiGi will have to make this fight with Canelo or else face one of the listed MW/SMW opponents.
If the fight happens, this will be a huge step up in level of opposition for Golovkin which will provide viewers with a much more competitively charged product, especially if GBP stands firm on Canelo's request for 155lbs.

    Hhmmm....

So far from what I've seen O$CAR does not want Canelo meeting GGG in the next couple of years. O$CAR talked about giving this fight time to "MARINATE" suggesting maybe sometime mid 2017 ( ~ 18 months).

Then we got the "Canelo Weight" nonsense, Canelo would only fight at a 155 lb. catch weight.

Next, we got the "Double Header" with Canelo & GGG both fighting on Cinco de Mayo against different fighters, but on the same card.

Sulaiman/WBC jumped on this, saying it would hype Canelo & GGG meeting in September.

Now the WBC's decision to strip the belt from Canelo for not making the mandatory middleweight championship match has been extended to maybe Dec. 11th.

I wouldn't bet on Canelo/GGG meeting in 2016, given whats happened so far.

This meets O$CAR's goal and allows the WBC to have a popular Mexican middleweight champion.

One option for GGG is to try to get this Mandatory Contract issue into a court. Not sure if that's possible or who would have jurisdiction.

The other option is to "Play to the Press" trying to get public opinion to force the fight. Don't know if that works at all.

    Typical boxing "POLITICS" once again.

Fool. Why even imply that Ward, Quillin, or Lara are in the same stratosphere as Canelo as far as recognition and name value goes? GGG's the A-side to those first three, but nobody in his camp (or boxing) calls him A-side to Canelo.

Besides, if K2 wants to kill the deal, all they have to do is push to purse bids because there's no way Canelo signs on for only 55% of the money and the fight at 160. That's the entire reason they're negotiating and purse bids are a last resort.
