What people forget is that when Wlad makes $6.2m in purse he also makes money as a shareholder in K2, the company promoting the fight and holding the TV rights. So that's probably another nice chunk of change.

Now we know why the US arrested those 11 Russians. It siphoned money away from the fight into the legal defense fund.....

What's interesting to me is that for the original fight w/Sasha the winning bid by K2 was $5 million more then this one.

Potvekin will find a way not to fight again. He is no where near ready and he downgraded opposition after the Chambers fight.

There were rumors that Saureland "leaked" their bid before the date and Klitschkos went ahead and upped their bid only to find out that Sasha's bid was much lower and it was a ploy to get a bigger purse. But again, rumors.

K2 probably had a figure in mind that they thought Povetkin was worth and just bid accordingly.

I think the fight will come off but if Povetkin ends up pulling out for some reason or another I woulnd't be surprised. Unfortunately, ESPN says HBO isn't interested in buying this. A lot can change between now and then so I hope HBO gets on board with this one.

Povetkin is a pretty solid fighter and the fact that Wlad is seen as such a big favorite is really a testament to how good Wlad has become. Povetkin is an underdog and I think Wlad beats him but this is still a good match up between the top guy in the division and one of the top 2-3 challengers.

HBO bit off more then it can chew this year, probably why so many fights are not being made in 2010. They're probably saving what little is left of their budget for a Wlad-Haye matchup or Pacquiao-Mayweather.

Either network is fine with me, just as long as it's shown here in the US. :good
