Kabayel is Most Worthy Challenger for Usyk (VIDEO)

Like Fury said Usyk isn’t fighting Kabayel because it makes no monetary sense. He’ll drop that belt if he has to like he did with Wardley.

 

Heavyweight fight being stopped with zero knockdowns is ludicrous.

I understand the argument for Kabayel being an interesting fight style wise for Usyk (though I think Usyk will soundly outbox him), but I don't think he's the most deserving at this time. The quality of opponent and frequency of fighting just isn't there. He's clearly only interested protecting his mandatory spot.

Usyk's next fight should have been against Fabio Wardley. Coming off the back of a victory against Parker (even if I felt the stoppage was premature) exceeds anything most other heavyweights have done recently.

 

I want to make love to Agit Kabayel

 

He is much better then Wardley who really just lucked into being an interim defending champion. However no matter how good Kabayel is I would be totally shocked if Usyk fought him.

 

He would decalibrate you from behind with his "body shot" .

 

Especially in the 3rd rd! After a competitive first two which both arguably went against Kabayel no less. Worst case scenario it was 1-1 and Knyba while having a very bad round wasn't completely out of the fight yet.

 

To be fair, I wouldn't have had any issues if the Usyk-Fury 1 fight was stopped in round 9.

 

He was getting lit up by a guy I've never heard of and won the fight with a british stoppage.

I feel this does very little for Usyk historically. Zhang was very old, Sanchez the same, Mak sucks. I'd like to see him take on one top 10 guy who is under 40 before we really legitimize him. He does NOT pass the eye test for me as a bonafide next best guy.

 

Maybe Kabayel should get beaten up a bit by Ngannou for 10 rounds. Or get flattened by a fatty like Ruiz.
That ought to legitimize him as a legacy fight for Usyk.

 

Fighting Knyba was a disgraceful step down in opponent quality.

He's still up there among the most deserving despite it, but if he repeats it with another shite opponent next (going back for Hysa, for example) then I can't see him as deserving anymore.

 

Not the best version of Fury, clearly. He didn't train. There's a huge range in the shape he can turn up.

Joshua is Joshua.

We have no reason to believe this isn't the same Kabayel.

 

I often answer to these. This time I'll say:

On the one hand yes - on the other hand, what is all the rest of them doing?

Realistically there are two, maaaybe three in the running as the most deserving.

Wardley
Kabayel
Maybe hrgovic

To me wardley and kabayel are above hrgovic at this point, period. Hrgovic didn't look great in any of his last fights.

And wardley has what - a punch in the 11th against huni without which he would have lost and a useless flurry against parker who was totally gassed but not hurt, because of his own failed gameplan? And then a howard foster stoppage?

So yes, looking only at kabayel and assessing him for himself, I don't see it as deserving behavior taking these kinds of opponents while waiting for his shot.

But when asking for MOST deserving, and having only these two competitors, he might be most deserving even if he does. As long as wardley or hrgovic don't show something else.

Realistically, he has taken better opposition than usyk in quite a while, because usyk hasn't fought AT ALL. Like most heavyweights.

I really hate these mismatches and that I am kind of arguing against that feeling here, but if one fighter gets criticized, all of the rest should be, too. Especially with the nothing they are giving us here...

(Btw isn't it interesting, that wardley seems to face the most light punching hws? I mean parker and huni... Might be specific matchmaking. Let's see what happens when he faces a zhang or someone like that. It's not like he has stellar defense)
