I think there is a potential for a strong parallel, if a quick rematch goes ahead, Norris was perceived to have a shaky chin, he was an excellant boxer who started to become too aggressive to quickly, before softening up his opponent, and he paid the price against Brown in a similar shocking fashion to Kahn, However in the rematch Terry played to his strengths of speed and boxing ability, not getting too involved inside, and ran out a very clear winner, Can Amir copy the Terry formula in a rematch ?
It's a possibility, but I don't think it happens. Norris's main issue (besides his inability to follow the rules) was his chin, but he had so many other tools in his arsenal that Khan lacks. Much better footwork, generalship, combinations, defense, etc..
Agreed. I've seen a couple of threads making the same comparison, but if you take away the chin issue there isn't much similarity between Norris and Khan. Norris was clearly a superior boxer and a much harder puncher. The signs from the Maidana, Peterson and Garcia fights are that people have figured Khan out, and that once he slows down after a few rounds he can be bullied around. Khan dominated each fight early, but when the tide turned had no plan B other than a huge heart. That isn't the sign of an "excellent boxer", but a one-trick speed demon.
nope Garcia beats Khan 10/10. give Garcia some credit. Dude was timing that hook from round 1 and you could tell from the get go that although amir was winning the rounds garcia was landing and fighting well and it was only a matter of time before he caught Amir. I thought Khan would avoid everything for quite a few rounds and still gave Garcia a shot of catching him late but you knew things were going bad for Khan when Garcia was already connecting in round 1 and then in round 2 slipping and blocking/parrying a lot of Amirs best shots and connecting more and more with his. Once he tasted it he had no respect for Khans power and by round 3 he was just walking through everything Amir threw, it wasn't a matter of Khan being pissed off and throwing caution to the wind to get the KO, he didn't look like he was trying to KO Danny at all. Danny would have eventually caught him and always will vs Amir. He showed good D, great chin and good skills....also intelligence with not rushing the finish and punching himself out, instead placing his shots like a poised veteran. Garcia did a great job! also Norris had far more in his arsenal than Khan
Completely erroneous analysis. Khans domination was growing as the fight progressed, Garcia's punches were getting wilder and more desperate. He got lucky, that's all.
your nuthuggery knows no limitations. Garcia was tagging that ass since round 1 and it was only a matter of time before he shattered his jaw. He was also slipping/parrying/blocking a lot of Khans best work. Khan won the rounds but you could tell Garcia was getting **** going and getting to him and that Khans shots had next to no effect on him......go watch it again and if you can't see this then I don't know why you bother watching a sport you cannot be rational about. garcia slaughters Khan 10 times out of 10, he's the better fighter. Face it Khan is a C level fighter with A+ level speed.
The problem with this thread is that Norris actually had boxing SKILLS. Khan has NONE! He's simply a fast, flashy amateur. I have no idea why people can't see that. He'll NEVER EVER EVER EVER put on a boxing clinic the way Norris did. NEVER.
You're forgetting the fact that Khan doesn't have the mental disipline to stick to a game plan for 12 rounds. He's known about his shaky chin for a long time yet continues to get drawn into wars. I don't see him changing in that regard, glass brained.
Xplosive you just don't know how irked I get when I see people making the comparisons between Khan and Terry Norris, outside of their chin issues and hand speed, they ain't nothing alike.:twisted::twisted:
Glass brained and no skills. Norris was a hot head, but he knew how to box, and he was far more fluid than Khan, and had faaaaaarrrr better stamina and defense.
