the fights could've been made. negotiations were not maintained to genuinely try to make them happy.

was khan thaxtons mandatory but chose not to move ahead.

argue how you want but khan did not fight the 2 best brits in his domestic era. one also happened to be the european champ at the time. he jumped both and the fighter picking has begun. good fights but they are definitely picking. jumping domestic and european can sometimes stop people upsetting the gravy train.

froch met up with guys like dodson, magee etc guys determined to upset the apple cart. they gave him tough fights and made him the fighter he is today.

thankfully khan is with a good coach now so he didn't need the fights to learn as he is learning it in the gym.

Probably correct, no excuse in that as Calzaghe was awesome.

However, there are at least 7-8 140lbs fighters who would stand Khan on his head. Also, Maidana should be the real WBA champ, now he would drill Khan good.

It's a matter of convienience really, Khan and Haye are not real champions at the moment, they hold an alphabet title, the WBA has become devalued really quickly IMO. :hi:

It's like the jungle showbiz programme thats on now... they are there because they are popular, that's all.

Have to say though, Bugner looks great and seems a really articulate guy!

How do you work that out? :huh

Maidanas chin looks as fragile as Khans, Ortiz had him down a couple of times with nothing shots

He should have beaten Kotelnik first, two, he was gifted the WBA interim title instead shortly afterwards. Khan was gifted the title shot against Kotelnik, he had no business fighting for the WBA title at that weight. In fact, Gavin Rees, Kotelnik, M'Baye now Khan - great lineage? Maidana is being kept out the way, this can be achieved via Interim or super title. Either way, you cannot seriously think Khan is proper world champion?

Maidana fought for the WBA strap and failed where Khan later suceeded, he beat a gutless Ortiz after being put down three times, twice to nothing shots, and now is in line for another chance at the title...hardly being kept out of the way.

I don't believe that Khan is a world champion, but he did win a version of the title against a belt holder, something that Maidana failed to do, and is therefore more of a champion, than say, Devon Alexander (what did he do to justify his shot other than clown an aged and past it Corley?).

If Khan beats the Columbian, which I think he will do, another contender will just be dragged out to beat Khan over the head with, it gets extremely tiresome.

Khan was Kotelniks voluntary defence. Therefore to say khan didnt deserve a title shot is neither here or there, kotelnik thought hed go for the "easy" option and financially better option in khan and lost.

Khan beat a champion therefore he is a legitimate title holder

If he does end up fighting the likes of Malignaggi, Maidana and Alexander, then I doubt fighting Murray and Thaxton would be relevant.

It comes down to who he goes on to fight after Salita (assuming he wins).

He came second place in an Olympics, the new star of Frank Warren.

Froch took the hard route and beat the likes of Pascal, Taylor and now Ward.
With little or no favours along the way.

Khan has had nearly everything handed to him and even then it backfired badly with Prescott. Or did it, a few fights later the WBA came to the rescue.

Olympic silver at 17 is quite a feat on it's own, Froch was handed his last fight by the judges, made to look like a one dimensional plodder.

Depends what Murray goes on to do. I'd say most fans on here would mention Witter if they were told to write an account on Hattons career.

I don't mind utlimately cos when you are an Olympian etc then you can shoot for glory quicker. You've got the clout to do so. Still, if you are gonna fight domestic as Khan did, it would have been nice to see just TWO more fights. He fought the English and Commonwealth champ, just not the British or European. A shame.
