For Lopez that's 3 elite level opponents in a row

    Ortiz (due to the weight-jump)
Alvarez (jumped up another weight class)
And now Khan (who is an elite LWW)

And Khan will be taking on another tough challenge, aside from Molina...Khan doesn't really seem to do soft touches, gotta give it to the guy

    he's fought

    Garcia
    Peterson
    Judah
    Kotelnik
    Maidana

In his last 5 fights, and now Lopez. That's impressive

Pumped for this, **** I like to laugh at Khan but I don't think he will ever be in a fight I won't want to watch!

Neither of these guys shy's away from a challenge, should be a good fight :bbb:bbb:bbb

Indeed, his manager has confirmed they are talking to Khans camp so I assume it will be his next fight after that

    Ortiz
    Alvarez
    Maidana
    Khan

Maybe you have a different meaning of elite to me but the only one who could be elite is Alvarez and he has yet to prove it really. Elite for me = p4p level. Ortiz and Khan aren't close to elite for me.

So there are only 10 elite boxers in the world?

    Of course not

If you are elite within the WW division then you are one of the top fighters in the division, magical 10-man p4p list notwithstanding

If you want to discuss whether or not someone has elite skills...thats a different matter, but Khan is definitely a LWW elite

Add to it that Lopez fought back to back undefeated prospects to get his shot at Ortiz. In hindsight, those wins might not look as impressive, but at the time he was brought in as a test, not a favorite, and had no margin for error.

He's a top light welterweight, yes. My terminology just differs from yours.

I'm confused. Lopez's trainer says it's Maidana, but his manager says Khan. :huh

Anyway, if I were Lopez's advisor, I'd tell him to jump at the Khan fight. Far more rewarding than Maidana.

And on the other end, Khan has got some balls. The man's career is walking a very fine line. Most Brit fighters in his shoes would remain on home soil for the rest of 2013 fighting soft touches, but he's jumping right in with a guy who's a horrible style for him and will likely bust him up.
