Probably better for Rees at 135, he was visibly carrying a few pounds at 140. Will he not take a tune up first though? He took some pounding in his last fight.
It not really too unusual for matchmakers and promoters to be speaking to more than 1 potential opponent at the same time so both Stewart and Rees could well be in talks with Khans camp. Id much prefer Rees though, a good hard fight for Khan that Id expect him to come through but not without some difficulty.
It's not pointless at all. We saw how many problems old ass Gomez gave him, which just put into perspective where Khan is at. He'd never faced that type of fighter before, and it really showed, he had no answer once a guy got in close. This is a logical progression, Rees has fought in good class of late, comes forward throwing a lot of punches, but has more stamina than Gomez.
:nono I'd give Rees a chance at beating chinless wonder Khan. I doubt Khan would do as well against Kotelnik as Rees did.
Gavin Rees won't last 5 rnds with Kahn,no matter how durable he's believed to be...Kotelnik showed how limited he was by totally outclassing him...and this is the man who wants Hatton:rofl Rees is a good domestic and European fighter, but he;s poor on the world stage against any quality opponent for me....Good fighter for Khan to take on but it won't last long
Just watched aftermath of the Pacquiao v Diaz fight. Steve Bunce made a good point, David Diaz would be an ideal opponent for Khan, not the best at lightweight but a big name and a legitimate but limited top ten fighter who Khan would have a good chance of beating and enhance his reputation.
