I like Meehan here... I think he was the better boxer and less stiff than Thunder, advantage in every area except for power.

I think prime Thunder from mid 90s KOs him. Conversely Meehan could shatter Thunder's glass chin.

    Im a Thunder fan.

How dare you throw him in against someone with meehans size and power without consulting me first.

    LMAO

Thunder is quicker to the punch, so I'll say he steamrolls Meehan in 6 seconds.
Repeat of the Grimsely fight except Meehan a little slower out the gate.

I like Jimmy Thunder, but to be honest, he was knocked out every time he fought someone who was even close to world class status. Kali Meehan was a class above him, imo, even if he himself was nothing great on the world level. I think he knocks out Thunder quite easily, as long as he doesnt run into the lucky punch.

Meehan from the Brewster fight would not lose.

Meehan was overall the better fighter. He was inconsistent though, so anything could happen, but I would still put my money on him against the very average Thunder.

We're talking prime for prime, right?

I'd easily favor Meehan. Thunder was tough, scrappy, and could hit but he was so crude and easy to hit... No ring IQ either, just a brute really.

To be fair Thunder had some victories over Tubbs, Berbick and Witherspoon. Of course they were at the end of their careers.

I have to be honest, i dont remember those fights. Still, they werent really legitimate top 10 fighters at the tiem were they? All were certainly older and past prime. That being said, they were better wins than i remember him having.

Still, i can go past the the thrashing by Derek Williams (or someone from the UK) and i remember his failure to beat anyone of note or really even compete with anyone of note, after he caught crawford grimsley and if he was good enough then he would have become the next Mike Tyson and been a huge box office draw (in australia at least). He wasnat good enough.

Meehan in contrast seemed to have it in him to step up, though maybe i am jsut giving him too much credit for the Brewster fight.

Stylistically, Kali has the better reach and should keep him at distance and dominate him. Still, if Jimmy does catch Kali, i feel confident he could put him to sleep. Kalis chin wasnt as great as Jimmys power. I am starting to warm to the idea of thunder causing an upset when i think about it, but i just cant get past my memory of him struggling to pull the trigger against Jb Williamson and then the follow up with the loss to Mike the bounty hunter.

This would be a great fight, even if i pick Meehan as the favourite.

At his best Meehan came close to winning the hw title in a contested loss to Lamon Brewster.
He was also ko in 32 sec by Danny Williams. A opponent of Thunder John Ruiz was ko by
Tua in 19 sec and then went on to beat Thunder and win hw title.
Kali might not have gone on to win title but he would have beaten Thunder on points.

I thought Meehan was very unlucky not to have gotten the nod against Brewster.
