Even 2 or 3 secs aint good....ref has every right to stop the fight as Kirby failed to protect himself at all times.
The more i watch the replay the more i agree with the ref's decision.

The only thing i agreed with Leapai was that fight wasnt going to last long.

Leapai should join the tipping comp & back against every heavyweight that is ranked higher than he is.:yep

After realising that there was no standing 8 count, i don't necassarily have an issue with the ref, however, regardless of Kirby's state he was clearly hit at the back of the head and should have been given a moment for that reason.

With leapis non defence and slowness when his stamina runs out (which don't take long) and wide looping punches v Kalis reach, power and accuracy it would be a massacre.

Tend to agree, and I don't mind Alex either, but Kali beats him every day of the week.

So you don't even give Alex a punchers chance?

Dunno, would need to see more of Kali right now.
Like Ippy said, it's a pity it didn't go for a few rounds last night so we could get a better idea where he's at.

But even if we only use last night and the previous fight aganst the dancer, I think Alex has little chance.

I like Alex and he's a good brawler, but he has nothing that could trouble Kali.

    No deal.

The decision to stop the fight was made. Kirby had little clue of how to defend anymore. Both arms over the ropes and facing the crowd?? FFS!!!

Kirby was shot from the time Meehans straight right landed. Kirby was additionally shot by the right uppercut. The bout was not going to last beyond the first. THANKFULLY Kirby can come back again soon.

Sox, I agree with you... and what a FANTASTIC week that would be. :happy

Kirby was hurt I agree, but how many times do we see fighters come back from being hurt? The truth is Kirby was out of his depth, but it's not like he had taken punishment for a dozen rounds. I stand by my comment had the ref cautioned Kali the proceeding seconds would have been enough for Kirby to regain composure.
