Would like to hear your reasons why? Or is there something even more lethal?

I'd say Krav Maga. Simply because I have had some training in it and it is very practical, and brutal.

What I would love to train in is SAMBO. Closest I have come though is Judo.

Kali by far, this is KNIFE fighting and not just for self defense either. It means carrying the knife concealed and knowing when or where to attack. Its a very offensive art where the goal is to kill by targeting the caratid and femoral arteries.

Some schools even teaches you how to get a lawyer and what to say to the policemen after youve killed someone.

Oh yea, friend of mine trained in kali it seemed very effective. A lot of joint locks and very nice cuts and movement broken down to effective science.

Krav maga is probably better for no weapon self defense. Very nice, simple, and effective.

What makes you say that, u? Without going into chapter and verse, can you elaborate?

I agree about KM. I have not yet met a person who practiced this and had something bad to say. Arguably the best combat hand to hand MA.

    Kali is.

Silat is practiced in the Philippines too but it is indonesian. I really dont like it because it is very esoteric. Kali is too but lately there have been hardcore teachers (gurus) who have been teaching the old way and that is to slice and dice your way out of trouble. Like Uloaf said, it is very scientific. I went to a seminar and this guy pulled up a picture of the human anatomy and showed everyone where to cut so that the bleeding wont stop:lol:

Be very careful with Kali practicioners, trust me they carry some kind of blade Im talking about legal knives like a swiss army. So you could have a faucet in your ribcage and he aint going to jail.

Scary stuff, but invaluable, c. Forgive my ignorance, but do they do free fighting in Silat 'n Kali, the way they do in Karate?

I was shown some stuff by someone who actually trained krav maga particularly for self defense against guns and knifes. It worked on me, so I think it would work on average person with a gun or a knife.

They do a ton of drills. I dont think sparring with this thing can really be as productive as compared to empty handed combat forms just because it just really takes a couple of cuts and its done.

You dont play with your food, you go for the caratid and the femoral and youre out of there.

There are drills both the offensive and the recieving drill (where they do disarms and locks) Usually a drill has nine steps of stabbing, cutting motions. I mean if someone who has no idea of how to defend against a knife, step 1 and its over.

If you ever face someone who knows the law, youre pretty much in deep ****. When someone yells:

    "Im scared"
    "I dont wanna fight"
"I dont want anyone to get hurt"

    get the **** outta there.

    Translation:

Witnesses see that Im scared for my life, so Im force to defend it by any force.
Im not aggressive and want to avoid a confrontation
Im going to kill you and I warned you but you wouldnt stop.

You might get stabbed and you may land in jail as well.

I think MMA in general is great self defense. When it comes to little things like small joint manipulation and weapon defence etc I don't think there is any ultimate training system. Anything at all could happen and you can't be prepared in everyway for that. The best way to be prepared for that is to continously train in random attacks and thinking up ways to deal with them in the moment.

Great point, you must train your nerves to react to random attack. But no matter how trained you are everything at best is 50/50. When you see someone with a knife, GTFO
