Kalle Sauerland: For Kessler after Bouadla is either Bute or Steiglitz!

Bute's team already made an offer to Kessler!

 

Mikkel Kessler, un ex-champion du monde âgé de 32 ans, qui a vaincu Éric Lucas par T.-K.-O. au 10e round, en 2006, effectue un retour, samedi soir à Copenhague, après une absence de 14 mois. Le Français Mehdi Bouadla (22-3, 10 K.-O.), un pugiliste classé cinquième par le WBO, sera son rival pour l'occasion.

Pour le président de Sportscene et d'InterBox, Jean Bédard, le choix de Bouadla est clairement stratégique. Il vise à planifier un combat entre Kessler et le champion WBO de la division, l'Allemand Robert Stieglitz (40-2, 23 K.-O.). Le clan Kessler aurait même déclaré avoir refusé la proposition d'InterBox.

«Nous lui avons pourtant fait une très bonne offre, mais son groupe a déclaré par le biais des médias danois qu'elle n'était pas satisfaisante, alors qu'ils devaient nous donner une réponse après le combat de samedi, a-t-il expliqué. Ça confirme qu'ils veulent un autre chemin pour lui et qu'ils comprennent que ce serait moins risqué pour lui d'affronter Robert Stieglitz que Lucian Bute.»

«L'attitude du clan de Kessler est décourageante, a renchéri Larouche. Il est venu aux abords du ring, à Montréal, pour voir le combat entre Lucian et Brian Magee.

Il voulait voir à l'oeuvre Lucian et Renan St-Juste, qui devait être son adversaire de retour... et soudainement, St-Juste serait trop fort pour son retour et on lui choisit un autre boxeur? C'est un peu n'importe quoi.»

This roughly says that Kessler probably chose to go the Stieglitz way instead of the Bute way. Larouche says they made a good offer to Kessler's clan and were waiting for an answer after saturday's fight, instead they read comments in the papers that the offer was not good enough. They came to MTL to see Bute fight Magee and to see a potential opponent for Kessler's return in Renand St-Juste. Now they are saying that St-Juste is too risky for a comeback fight and chose a right hander.

Doesn't look good for a Bute-Kessler in the fall wich is a shame. Don't know why Kessler would go for a belt that really doesn't mean much. Wondering what Showtime will say about that, they were pushing hard for that fight to happen !

 

i'd love to see kessler fight bute. as for stieglitz i must admit i've never seen him fight.....

 

My vague 'memory impression' is that he is mainly solid but not overly impressive.
