Two big South African bombers, neither of which had a great chin or defense. Might as well schedule this one for 4 rounds

I've seen more from DuPlooy so I'll go with him, he's got the better wins and seems to have done more than Knoetze did past the amateurs.

Any Knoetze fights you'd recommend? I've only seen his match with Coetzee.

So Du Plooy is the better boxer with a more all-round game. He could be very powerful and dangerous when he was in form. Knoetze is by comparison a plodder with a less impressive boxing repertoire. However Knoetze had something Du Plooy did not: a lot of grit and a better chin. He would plod forward, bull-like, hunched over, and throw his looping overhand right / uppercut combo over and over. Knoetze doesn't look like he should beat Du Plooy, but Du Plooy would, I believe, get worn down and eventually clipped. Knoetze could really hit and I don't think Du Plooy's chin is up to those bombs.

    Here's Knoetze vs Bobick:

im inclined to agree with you. Even though Du Plooy had the kind of power that could have knocked out anyone, his chin and defense were terrible. At times those wide open shots he threw looked like he was swinging at thin air leaving himself open for easy counters.

Bobick and Coetzee are the only ones I’ve seen

DuPlooy definately more talented but found to way to lose. Pierre Coetzee was pretty similar to Knoetze in that he used his strength to wear you down. Pierre was better all round than Kallie though didn´t really hit quite as hard. Still he stopped DuPlooy in a 2 round classic. DuPlooy also stopped early by Damiani known more for his boxing skills than power. I agree with the a majority in that Kallie would slowly wear Johnny done and stop him late.

don't forget about that left hook of Knoetze. He 1 punched Schutte. And all he did was wing punches in there. Just cannot picture the Duplooy defense avoiding those shots. and if hit with 1 of them and he reacts to it--like staggered or buckled---nobody had to tell Kallie to throw follow up shots.

That was a sloppy right hand Johnny usually threw. Telegraphed and real wide. He fell in and went off balance when he threw it. And his left hook wasn't much. A jab and left hook off the jab would help against this guy. He is going to need more than a wide looping right hand. Quite a bit more.
