Interesting oddity I found looking at Knoetze record. He fought 27 total bouts. His last 24 all ended in round 10 either by KO or decision aside from one (which was a 12 round loss to Tate).
Perry, I think you're reading it wrong. Such as the Tate fight that was stopped in the 8th and the Bobick fight that ended in the 3rd.
If you're looking at the wiki page for him, the rounds listed is how long the fight was scheduled for, not how long it actually lasted. He KOed Bobick in 3, got TKOed by Tate in 8, KOed Dunn in 5, etc.
I can remember the front piece of "Boxing Illustrated" showing Kallie flexing his bicep, and the sub-title "Is knoetze the new Marciano?" I found that odd at the time seeing as he had already lost one bout.
Don't know what you're looking at but I can only see three fights on his entire record that went ten rounds.
Crude looking fighter but his overhand right might have been one of the hardest in history. He used to plod forward thrwing it over and over again. You'd think it was a poor strategy, but he always seemed to be able to land it sooner or later. Good night, once it did. The right he despatched Bobick with was crushing.
His left hook was nothing to ignore. He 1 punched Schutte and put him in a heap on the canvas. 2 handed power is what the former rugby player had.
Gil Clancy wrongly predicted that Knoetze would KO John Tate. But it wasn't an unreasonable pick given Kallie's power and track record along with Tate being relatively inexperienced and untested. Some of those South African fighters of the late 70's-90's were tough and underrated.
