What did you make of him (Finnegan) in comparison to Minter, lora? I prefer to watch Finnegan of the two and I thought he at least deserved to win the second fight. Minter is a fighter I've tried to like but just can't, despite what he achieved. Just something about his style that puts me off.
I'd say they were on roughly the same level overall.A more consistent determination, higher workrate and better punching power is what saw Minter have the more consistent career. Agree i'd rather watch Finnegan as a technician.Minter was only occasionally aesthetically pleasing, a lot of the time when he opens up with his shots, he reminds me of a more traditional standup Pacman, just in the awkward rhythm of the straight punching and footwork.
Minter was a very good fighter and I certainly respect his work ethic, grit and effectiveness. Thought he served himself better when he steadily pressed things rather than boxing too much on the back foot tbh. Funny that you mention the slight Pacquiao comparison. I was recently trying to explain Minter to a mate of mine who doesn't really watch boxing much when another fella who watches it even less cut in and said 'He were a bit like that little Pacquiao bloke but not as good'. I sort of told him to stop being a tool, so outlandish seemed the comparison at the time, but you've got me wondering a bit now ........the odd similarity perhaps might be there at times.
