The thing is no one in Australia, apart from hardcore boxing people, know who Haney is. It's not the same as someone with Pacquiao's name and legendary status coming here to fight someone like Horn. I'd imagine there will be a last minute rush on tickets. But I really don't think they'll do more than 10 000-20 000.
Yeah even Mundine Green was 40K crowd also when Green brought out Jones and Tarver they were sold out but indoor arenas with 20K capacity same as Mundine Mosley and even Mundine Geale fights and these were big names at the time. Kambosos maybe should’ve settled for Ammi Park in Melbourne
Exactly. When they brought out Danny Santiago, even with his profile in the States, they only had it at Challenge Stadium. I think it will still be a big crowd..bigger than anything we have had recently. The PPV sales in NSW especially will do ok I feel. I know quite a few that intend to buy it. Like Sandman_ said though if the configuration is for full attendance it will take some clever camera work to make the place appear full.
Imagine they have a poor gate and Haney dominates him. How are they going to sell that fight in Melbourne?
Win, lose or draw against Haney, Kambosos' next fight will be in Sydney. They won't do two in a row in Melbourne. Unless of course they pull 50,000 in which case Melbourne it is.
On Sun May 29 Ch 7 Spotlight program will be doing a feature one hr epsiode on Kambosos Jr. This is prime time on Aust TV ( 9 pm ) and is a high ranking TV show.
