WBO had refused to sanction his fight against McDonnell as a unification bout. So he gave up the belt and is fighting him anyway/ He said he wants to fight the best fighters regardless of belts. Good for you Tomoki...good for you!:good
Slowly but surely, that "B" is getting replaced with that same "H" that was there in the first place...
For the first time in history Japan could have 5 world title holders in the same weight class ...and it's been HELPED by this
It would have been nice to unify the belts with Yamanaka, but as long as that fight happens, me no care! Screw the belts.
I know there isn't but...still interesting scenario- WBC (Yamanaka) WBA Super (Ryo Matsumoto is rumoured to be fighting Payano in the summer) WBA regular (Tomoki) WBO (Akaho is the #1 contender and will likely fight for the now vacant strap IBF "interim" (Iwasa Vs Haskins looks set to be announced)
If the WBO doesnt respect WBA regular champs then i think thats a good thing. But if thats really the case then why have they not ranked McDonnell in their top 15? If he is just a contender then he should be in there no?
