Co-headlining a small hall show at the Rodeo West Dallas on February seventeenth. Now, I know diddly-squat about Hamilton-Hackett, but the Canadian southpaw is 6'2" and undefeated at 31 years old. That alone makes him a prohibitive favorite over the shell of "Drago's Son", who is on a six loss skid and was stopped in December by a debutant. (a quick Google search also reveals that KH went 40-5 in the amateurs, with some observers in Ontario drawing comparisons between his slick lefty style and that of Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker...high praise; he also has been used for sparring by GRS and Dmitry Bivol, supplementary to his career in dishwashing) The last victory for the Russian was exactly one year ago today, and that was over a 1-8 guy, in a rematch after having already beaten him the year before. His last victory over somebody with a positive record was Jesus Paez Huerta in 2017. His last meaningful victory was over Zsolt "Madár/Firebird" Erdei, and that was a robbery - and nine years ago to boot. It's been a rather ignominious way for a once-capable contender to end his career...with a long, sputtering, drawn-out whimper. Even if he upsets the obscure prospect here, it won't really make a ripple or get him any closer to a serious payday again.
This is a bit of an ugly fight. In his last 15 bouts Grachev is 4-11 and his wins have come against guys with a combined record of 10-72-3. Hackett may be undefeated but the combined record of the eight fighters he vanquished is 18-101-9. I will go with Hackett by decision but if Grachev shows even a twinkling of his old class he could steal it.
