Main event of this Saturday's card on ESPN (co-headlined by José Olavides Uzcátegui vs. TBA in a tuneup for his August elminator with Anthony David "El Bandera Roja" Benavídez). At stake will be the WBC's vacant Youth bantamweight silver title.

Somebody's record of 18 and 0* has got to go!

*Arce's has a couple of 8-round draws tacked onto it. He is el sobrino de Jorge - that's right, the nephew of four-division champ and fan-favorite colorful personality, the Lollipop Cowboy himself, El Travieso. He does boast a victory over former 2-time super fly titlist (albeit very faded) Alexander Múñoz, but, disturbingly, his pair of draws - one a SD, the other MD - both came against domestic journeymen.

As little as I know about this second generation (-ish, not direct line but near enough for gov't work) fighter, I know even less about his opponent. Contreras has fought virtually nobody of note, but he does have a superior result over their single common opponent. Iván Meneses "The Little Chicken" Flores lasted 8 to lose on points to Arce, but was knocked out by Contreras in less than half as long.

Anybody seen much of these lads? I'll try and rummage up some footage.

Looks good but not "convince my wife to watch a Spanish language broadcast" good.

Edit: not to go too off topic, but then we go on vacation and I have to do all the talking.

    Wtf!!

For like five minutes at least after the fight ended he looks fine, talking with people in the ring animatedly, then gives an interview at ringside. Scary as hell how this kind of thing can pop up in such a delayed fashion, instead of the usual image we have of someone literally collapsing in the ring.

    Excellent news!

"They confirm that David 'General' Cuéllar is now stable and under supervision. Due to the tremendous effort and the weather conditions, he suffered a heat stroke after the victory. Hug for him, thank God he's better."

This fight is still on FB, and it's definitely worth watching.
