I think he is marketable..... And apparantly he kicks everyone ass in sparring I wanna see the kid I mean he is the 1st to stop Steve Forbes ...
His style is very awkward which hurts his marketability and he really hasn't shown me much that says he can hang with the best at 140. He is physically strong and tough, but that's about it.
I've only fallen asleep during three boxing matches in my life: Leo Nolan vs Lou Savarese, Sechew Powell vs Ishe Smith, and most recently, Mayfield vs Mauricio Herrera. It doesn't say good things about Mayfield's marketability that he would make for a miserable, boring, foul fest against a guy like Herrera, who makes for wonderful fights against anyone else. Mayfield has also bored the hell out of me against Steve Forbes. He might be skilled, but I'm not eager to watch him again.
Andre Ward is from Oakland. Right next to SF, and Donaire and Guerrero are also from the bay area. As to the topic starter, Karim Mayfield recently just signed with Top Rank, so expect bigger things to come.
