Kyle-Wiuff (in which the punch no closer to the bell than in Noons-Gurgel R1) was originally a TKO victory for Kyle but later changed to a NC - not a DQ win for Wiuff. :thumbsup

The hook after the bell to end round 1 was barely after the bell. No action was nor should have been taken regarding that punch. It wasn't an "illegal blow". It's just dumb luck that the bell sounded while the punch was on its way inexorably to its target. If anything, you could argue Gurgel was saved by the bell there. Did it affect his punch resistance in the next round? Sure, that's a fair point. It wasn't like Noons got a "freebie", though. Gurgel himself hadn't dropped his hands or ceased fighting. He threw a combo, and Noons threw a counter on the heels of that combo - a counter that happened to be a split second after the bell but oh well. When it's that close a call it isn't and shouldn't be viewed as a foul.

We are in total agreement about the ref being **** poor. To me, that is the much bigger issue than Noons throwing a knee that currently happens to be illegal under Strikeforce's rules.

Put it this way: had the referee just stood there stupidly while Noons threw brain-damaging, career-shortening punches to the head of a downed Gurgel, that would have been acceptable compared to Noons trying to just finish the damn thing ASAP to be merciful and happening to forget a rule in his hurry to do so?

That knee isn't anywhere near as hazardous to Gurgel's health as would have been him getting pounded in the head by KJ's fists for the rest of the round. That would have been obscene.

KJ is one of the best. He's up there with the likes of Nick Diaz and BJ Penn but to say he's better than them?:? Maybe on par....but Diaz length would be a problem at this point. Diaz has gotten A LOT better with his boxing and KJ maybe a little better. He didn't do all that great in boxing....he won...but struggled.

This past weekend showed how unprofessional KJ Noons really is.

Then he struck a grounded opponent with a knee.

Any kind of title shots this guy is supposedly in contention for should be non-existent as of last night. He doesn't deserve a shot at Melendez or Diaz. People can talk about how talented he is all they want. His inability to make weight then break 2 rules during the fight proved STRIKEFARCE is on its way to becoming the 2nd coming of Elitexc. Gurgel said it best in his post fight interview when he said he doubts he'd get a rematch because Noons is their "goldenboy." And its almost as if what Noons did got swept under the rug. I think Mauro Ranallo was the only one that really made a case for Gurgel while on the air. I almost can't wait for the day Strikefarce folds, and I most certainly can't wait for Noons to get Krazy Horsed by someone again. And he can't beat Thompson, Melendez, or Diaz in a rematch.

I get what you are saying about Noons...what got me was how No-Guts Johnson didn't ask ONE question about the blows.

Exactly. Its almost as if it meant nothing to them. Strikefarce has Noons in the bag like Elitexc did. That's becoming obvious.

Talk of title shots already.
Didn't aknowledge Gurgel in the promo.
Didn't make weight, commited 2 fouls, wasn't questioned about it.

I'll even dare say the only fighter that Strikefarce is marketing that really deserves it is Jacare.

Mo wasn't ready (we all knew that before last night)
Lashley is a big ***** who got cut then freaked out.

I think the more exposure Strikefarce gets the harder they're gonna fall when the time comes. The UFC will always be the top company in the game. And I'm no Zuffa zombie, I love MMA as a whole. But its clear other organizations don't run their businesses the right way. And lets not forget about the horrible reffing Strikefarce has presented as of late:-(
